Kelly Barnhill, one of the most notorious crow hoppers to ever play, had plenty of velo. 70 mph worth to be exact. To say that crow hoppers don't have velo because the few you faced didn't have it is being intentionally disingenuous.
Kelly rarely hit 70 in real life if it wasn't an ESPN guns and when she didn't crow hop she was three to four miles slower. Typically she was around 67 when hopping and replanting amd 64-63 when not. And she got lit up like a Christmas tree when she didn't hop

Is this documented somewhere? I would love to look at the numbers.

I remember watching her and it did seem like she got lit up in games where illegal pitches were called. I never knew if it got in her head or if she actually changed something. Honestly I see more just straight leaping than the true 2nd push of the crow hop.

I had a High School AC (who shouldn't be talking to me) whine about an extremely small leap that the other team's pitcher was doing (which was almost impossible to call with the depression in front of the pitcher's plate). After his pitcher pitched, I called the HC aside and told him his pitcher was technically noticeably crow hopping 2-3 inches every pitch, but I didn't think it was giving her much of an advantage, if any, so I wouldn't call it unless the other HC said something, then I would call it every pitch.

Also told the HC if I heard another word from his AC, I was restricting the HC to the dugout.

Hope you have one of these ready...
