If we allowed everything, the site would be like reddit.com, and then DFP would die...because why come here when you can go to reddit?

Generally:

TOPICS WHICH ARE NEVER OK

1) Personal attacks. Sometimes too people are having a disagreement about some obscure topic ("bat angle in bunting"), and then one will starts calling the other guy names. It is OK to disagree with someone, but when someone sats, "That is why you are idiot.", then its time to pull the plug.
2) Politics: The "T" word (either pro or con)...Ranting about Democrats, Republicans, Socialists, etc. There are lots of Internet sites to post your personal views on politics.
3) Racist posts.
4) Wacky posts from Neptune, such as conspiracy theories.

TOPICS WHICH ARE ON THE FENCE

1) Religion. If the post is related to softball, it is OK. E.g., we had a great discussion about post-game prayer circles a couple of years ago. On the other hand, a religious post that is not softball related doesn't belong here.
2) Sexist posts. Sometimes it is good for people to talk through sexism. Fastpitch primarily has female participants and male coaches. Sexism does exist...and everyone needs to be sensitive to the issue.

Thanks Sluggers and much appreciated. Also, appreciate the a bit of flexibility to discuss and "stretch" the boundaries a bit during this time. Really appreciate being able to come here right now and see what is on people's minds.

@clemenslee1 . I don't think you have done anything wrong. My last post was just to ask a question not only for myself but for everyone to know where to keep our discussions and I think they have been very good. Just my humble opinion but this whole thread has been very good although not everyone is on the same page. And there are going to be many different pages during these times so listening to others whether we agree or not isn't a bad thing. In short, IMHO, no foul ball here @clemenslee1 .

To everyone, keep safe, we will weather the storm and please don't stay away from DFP. Sometimes I post and sometimes I just come here to read what has been posted. Truth is, it keeps my mind off the news (even if we are talking about the news) and helps me comprehend what is going on. Thanks all!

I also am glad we can stretch the boundaries a little in this case. We softball people are being affected in a way that’s different than some other folks. It’s going to be hard on us.

Agree that it’s ok to not agree. In fact I prefer it. I like to hang with like minded people but you learn the most from people you don’t agree with.

Afraid we got bumpy roads ahead. I can’t take my eyes off of Italy. 13 doctors dead there since it started. They have been locked down for a month. Think I heard 800+ Passed there today. Damn.

Keep your heads down, take this thing serious and try to find a way to have some fun.

Just was told that USSSA Will be enforcing an no contact handshake rule due to the out break of the Coronavirus.

And to think this was the first post in this thread ten days ago......things certainly are moving fast.

Thanks s3 I was just stating that my post that was removed by the mod, was what prompted sluggers to state what he did about the rules. It's not that big of a deal, was just trying to provide encouragement to people who may need it during this time.

Can I say I’m a little embarrassed a moderator has to ask that? Not meaning that personal, but you should know your audience a bit better.

We come here because it is a community where we feel comfortable with each other. As a community, we like to talk to each other about other things too.

I’ve never been to reddit, nor do I intend to. I don’t do social media, and I never intend to. I found this site while looking for a place to “talk umpire” and the great threads and people sucked me in.

It’s your house though. I understand the need to keep things on track, and that is part of the reason I tapped out for the most part a few days ago.

Right on TMIB......I could of wrote this post word for word.....Also came here for umpiring first, and also my DD plays. Besides facebook, this is the only forum I'm on, and this topic effects everyone here. There really is not much softball to talk about these days. Hopefully everyone respects each other so we can all still come here and post our thoughts and views and fears and hopes about this virus, and that we will all get through this together and back to talking softball....and how great the umpires are!

Agreed. We all come here for a common reason which is softball; however, several of us have been here for a while. We come from different walks of life, have various experiences to share, and honestly - genuinely care about each other.

I have a good idea of who a few people are on this forum and I respect them, enjoy hearing about their dd’s, and while we might not always agree on everything, I do like to hear their input on other topics besides softball. I can easily say I probably learn something knew almost every day I come on here. I feel we are a fairly intelligent bunch who have a lot to offer besides info on softball, and during my time here I can easily say that the majority of that time the posters have been respectful of each other’s opinions, no matter what the topic has been.

Agree 110% @Vertigo. I do believe everyone means well and this is a great community like @The Man In Blue said. In fact, when he posted "im out" I was hoping like hell that he just needed a break. And he posted again tonight which was great to see. Why? I like reading what he has to say as well as the rest of the community. If DFP wasn't here I would likely lose my mind, orbe joing Reddit like @sluggers said which I don't even know what that is. OK, that's a lie, I have heard of it but won't be going there...

Yes, we all disagree on various things, but I do to learn when I come here as you said. More than anything, I love hearing the stories, thoughts, strategy, MECHANICS TALK (mechanics is everything to me), on how to make our DD's, pupils, girls in general better at the game. Simply put, it stinks now that we are, and nobody saw this coming, in a state of STOP if you will. So softball is on hold but I still enjoy the discussions like many have stated as it keeps me a bit whole I think.

Thanks for the post and we will all get our heads around this but it likely won't happen until it is over. Unfortunately we don't know when that will be. But until then, take a minute everyone to stop by and drop a line. Don't hold back your thoughts but be ready to be challenged. And that is a good thing as it gives us all a different prespective on this.

As @Westwind said above, Italy is on the struggle train. No flattening of the curve there which is completely tragic IMHO. Do what we can do and I too look forward to when we can focus more on softball again.
