DD’s school extended their time away from school until minimally 4/20. Luckily they planned ahead and planned quickly. This past week she had virtual school (mandatory) via Google classroom. They only missed two days getting things ready. She is “in school” from 8-12:15, straight through. This upcoming week is their scheduled spring break week, and then they’ll go right back to virtual classes.

I realize we are truly lucky and am grateful to our teachers for making the transition seamless.

I'm glad my DD is in high school. I get all the emails that she gets from her teachers, I can't keep up with it at all. She says she's on top of it, and she is a good student so I'm not worried, but I feel for all the parents with younger kids who have to stay on top of all this virtual learning with everything else going on.

Please, stay away from political/controversial discussions. We are giving people some leeway, but DFP is for softball.

There are lots of other places on the Internet to have political discussions, Reddit, e.g., is a great place to post.

Really...everyone knows that C19 was created when Mrs. O'Leary's pangolin knocked over a container of SARS into a vat of Ebola.
@sluggers Please keep your post softball related or you will have to close this thread. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: You know I am kidding and appreciate your Sheriffness of this site. I appreciate you keeping this discussion open as this is a place for all of us to discuss. My only ask is to maybe explain the rules again to everyone so we can all keep it in check. Seems sometimes it just depends on the subject or comment that causes the issue versus what the rules say. I think this would be a good time to let everyone know what is objective so they don't think you are being subjective which isn't what anyone wants. Thanks Sluggers and appreciate all you do!

Also, have to realize this is something way out the ordinary and people need to talk about this. It helps
get people thru the days being able to discuss. At this point with no softball or sports, we need to be able
to expand conversations a bit and appreciate the thread being let go so people can talk. I agree to not
let it get out of hand, but def need to be able to discuss something like the situation that we are all in.

If we allowed everything, the site would be like reddit.com, and then DFP would die...because why come here when you can go to reddit?

Generally:

TOPICS WHICH ARE NEVER OK

1) Personal attacks. Sometimes too people are having a disagreement about some obscure topic ("bat angle in bunting"), and then one will starts calling the other guy names. It is OK to disagree with someone, but when someone sats, "That is why you are idiot.", then its time to pull the plug.
2) Politics: The "T" word (either pro or con)...Ranting about Democrats, Republicans, Socialists, etc. There are lots of Internet sites to post your personal views on politics.
3) Racist posts.
4) Wacky posts from Neptune, such as conspiracy theories.

TOPICS WHICH ARE ON THE FENCE

1) Religion. If the post is related to softball, it is OK. E.g., we had a great discussion about post-game prayer circles a couple of years ago. On the other hand, a religious post that is not softball related doesn't belong here.
2) Sexist posts. Sometimes it is good for people to talk through sexism. Fastpitch primarily has female participants and male coaches. Sexism does exist...and everyone needs to be sensitive to the issue.

Serious question...what's the "T" word? Honestly, I don't know but since you refer to it along with politics if you are seriously saying that the President of the United States' name Donald Trump is never OK and not to be mentioned in any way...you, have gone too far.

It's really a shame that we had a place to come to meet and share ideas and we're being told to go somewhere else.
Seen it over and over on discussion boards. Beginning of the end.

Since this was pretty much started because of my post. Which I won't state what it was. Was it not related to the topic at hand on this thread? Was it not provided and stated by me to help those who are involved in the community as a whole and softball community as well. I obviously didn't state it as anything to be controversial or to cause issue. Let me also state that I understand that you must keep things civil amongst everyone on this forum and can only allow so much leeway. I respect that.
