Really? Because that was what I told @ANNASDAD when he asked me why I took a break for a bit a while back..You sure you aren't confusing us :LOL:
I guess it could be applied to both of you, but that was what she told me back in February. Believe me. I've considered it more than once too.

Moronic statement coming up. I think leg drive as it relates to velocity is overstated. My logic is In observations most pitchers can throw within 80-90% of velocity from a fixed position. Meaning a pitcher that throws 60 is probably 48-54 off one knee or standing.
Throw in a drill where they just drop the front leg they will be even faster.
Every 4’ closer is 10%. I think a pitcher gains 5-10% from gravity picking the knee up, 5-10% from leg drive with the effect of being closer reducing reaction time by 15%.

Have you ever seen her pitch without it? I think that would be the only way to tell if she gains an advantage by crow hopping.

If Rad were here, she'd tell everyone to be better hitters and not sweat the leaping.
Difference between leaping and crow hopping.

Took my DD to a national team exhibition game in 2017 when she was 11 and paid for seats front row behind home plate. My DD refused to watch Kelly Barnhill pitch and stared at the ground because she was "cheating".

Of course, my DD still refuses to take a lead until she sees the ball leave the pitcher's hand.

I don't see much of an advantage to crow hopping unless you do it like the men do, but that requires you to adjust your timing and arm action. But I'm sure that someone could come up with a way to exploit it if it was legal. The crow hopping that takes place now is mild and it's common.
I have seen dozens and dozens of crow hoppers, because I had a hi-def video camera and I took it with me every time I went to watch a softball game, rec, high school, travel, and all three levels of college. I would always take video and later on examine the pitchers closely in slow motion. Most of the crow hopping I did not notice live, it was only when I slowed down the video that I could see the replant. Most people don't realize how common it is, especially at the lower levels. Yes, Kelly Barnhill crow hopped and she threw 70, but she came down short of the 8ft circle. Was the crow hopping responsible for her velocity? Gabby Plain also crow hopped and she topped out at about 62. Even for the men crow hopping is not a full second push off. I believe it's illegal in men's fastpitch, but 'allowed'.

In anything competitive, it's not the 1st 95 or even 98% that separates the best from the rest. It's the last 1%(or more realistically the last .1 or .01%). The guys in the 95th percentile of golfers are fighting to win their club championships or dogfights in their spare time after work. The guys in the 99.999th percentiles are trying to make money on tour(225/30 million golfers). So yes 10 or 15% is a huge deal.

It wont be long before a girl is a multi-millionare before leaving college.(how much would/could Jennie Finch have made in college with NIL...),

If crowhopping didn't offer an advantage the men wouldn't do it.

@ArmWhip

It's not a full push...

That's 90+% of the superheavyweight WR(he's not a superheavyweight).

He's outside of the circle. And he's pushing from 41 or so feet.

They should change the rules because it's not called. And it offers an advantage. If girls were allowed to train crowhop mechanics you would see a noticeable difference.
