We just got our schedule for tournaments and DW is a bit upset that we are not playing much in the South where some of the schools that have shown interest in DD are. We are also doing a lot more than in the past, which makes it hard for college visits/camps. The HC is under pressure by one of the parents to do these other tournaments instead because her DD's schools of interest will be there. We will send DD's potential schools her schedule, but they certainly won't be convenient compared to the others, for them to attend. Any thoughts?

The bottom line is that if your DD has an interest in specific schools, she needs to be able to play where they can see her. Some coaches stay local while others travel - you'll need to find out what her schools do. While its always nice to have schools express an interest in your DD, it matters little if your DD doesn't have a mutual interest.

Don't know what the circumstances are or what the expectations for this team were, but sounds like you at least need to skip some tourneys to be able to visit and do camps at your DD's target schools. Given advanced notice, the team should be able to arrange guest players as needed.

We did a few showcases down South last year but this year several will be in the North East which she has little interest in.

It sounds like one family defined the travel route for the summer...? Where is the equal-pay equal-vote part in this?

Some non southern events still draw coaches from the south.

Colorado Sparkler is a big one, Demarini Invitational in IL, are you doing PGF nationals or ASA/USA nationals? A lot of coaches from all over come to those events.

This team pretty much stays on the east coast.

I think I'll contact our former organization's President, who coaches her "Dream Team." She was planning on trying out for him this year and he has two of her former teammates on it that also play for her HS. If she makes Varsity, those 3 would be playing for his assistant college coach and 2 of his TB coaches.

We poll player families regarding schools girls have on the radar and plan accordingly.
Last fall we entered the Ronald McDonald showcase in Tx. and dropped since
none of our players were interested in playing in the SW or west of the Mississippi.
There are some good tournaments in the mid-Atlantic/SE that draw from the entire east
coast. DW has a good point-time to have a private conversation with HC
