More coil....

There is a Spring Drill by the one who shall remain nameless....if you coil your back leg/rear hip correctly and pick up your front foot - your front leg will spring open....if you are resisting a certain way with the hands....it makes the scap action a no teach (once you are aware of how to resist).

And even though your front leg will spring open with this drill....you are still coiled....

I see the upper half/hands staying back while the hip starts the lead. He's already coiled as much as he's going to coil. He'll try to hold that coil until launch. What purpose would trying to further coil have? It's not needed. In fact, if he tried to coil even more at this point in the swing he would be an obstacle to himself.

I do see the uncoil starting. That's the purpose of the coil. You might even think in terms of the lower half coil and the upper half coil. The lower half starts to power move (uncoil) while the upper tries to maintain its coil until the point when the upper half unloads.

You can say the hips aren't rotating but you can see they are. The back hip does not move independently of the front hip. They have to rotate, they can't continue linearly or the batter would be over his front foot.

Pujols is doing what some call "wringing the rag."

Yes, the pelvic girdle is opening but the rear hip is trying to continue to coil.

You just said that uncoil would send the rear hip back where it came from. That is not what is happening. The rear hip coils and eventually completes the quarter turn back it is now headed back towards the plate. But the muscles that coil are the ones that are being used. He doesn't coil and the push the coil back to where it came from.

If he uncoils how does the rear hip get underneath and move from the inside?

Raffy, doesn't like the throwing analogy.....he likes whip better....thinks throwing the barrel releases the scap too early and leads to a push....

In my throw, my scap has to be pinched. It is vital for the throw but once the barrel is thrown with direction it can be released. The scap is loading and it should not be loading to unload. It can release the pinch/load after the barrel is gone. I just don't understand how you cannot throw the barrel around the hands without pushing. Call it whip, call it throw. I think of it as a throw or slingshot.

Good morning Hype. iso baseball was the videos i was thinking of.
Anyway, i now can visulize the quarter turn of the rear hip on the leg, coil, i can also visulize and feel the tightning of this coil as your knee turns, if i make myself feel it.
At this point i would like to ask, You say there is no uncoil, because of the twist in the socket, i say there is uncoil because of the hips opening.
I also feel a great deal of snap in my hip, when my front leg pushes the front hip back, explosive power, not the clenching of my rear hip holding my femur.

IMO - the difference is how the scap moves...if it just retracts and then protacts to swing the bat then I agree it is not ideal movement....

But if the scap depresses (scrunches) as the rear hip/leg coil more the release of the scap is later....and again is why I say the scap is not something to be overly concerned about....

Depression of the scap (scrunch) - Is Arod thinking, "I better hold this pinched scap!!"
