It doesn't matter. Coaches are looking at technique and athletic talent. They could probably hit off a tee, but front toss is traditional.

The video is meant to get them out to see you. That is where they make their real evaluation.

DD's strengths
She is 5"10 with above average speed(not elite speed). She has well above average arm strength. Offensively her swing is still a work in progress. She has good gap to gap power. This year her high school stat line was .390/.480/.710 with 3 home runs and 8 doubles in about 55 at bats.
DD's weakness
Consistent high level swing mechanics, lateral quickness in the infield. DD is a gamer whose skills best come through in games.

From the comments it looks like we need to zoom in more, make outfield throws from much deeper in the outfield. How would you recommend we demonstrate her speed. I have seen some skills videos that show the girls running home to first and a rare video that shows contact to first. Any other specific recommendations would be appreciated.

5'10" needs to listed on the contact screen... in big bold letters. There is no doubt that height gets second looks. This is why close is important on the shot - as the video is today she looks much shorter.

Speed: If she is fast round the bases, run them all. Put a stopwatch or timer on screen showing how fast. Swing or bunt and take off - as soon as the bat leaves the hand, start the watch.
Arm strength: Get a radar gun out and show throw speed if she has above average arm strength. Not necessarily THE important thing for an outfielder, but a weapon. Yes, throw from deep in the outfield on a line.
Outfield: If this is her elite skill today it goes first. Catch & throw (close), catch in deep CF & throw to home on a line, do-and-die charging on on a hard ground ball, DROP STEP and catch over each shoulder with recovery and throw.
Hitting: Right now, I would consider putting hitting after outfielding fielding.

Elite skills first... the ones that coaches will look at and say "Yes, that skill would add to my team"

Get a few games recorded on a gopro or some other HD camera. NO SHAKEY cam and put a few clips together .

Keep the clips clean. No music. Quick and to the point.


Oh and personally I wouldn't include HS stats. Let the college coaches find that.

I would add that the fielding portion of Mike's video shows the fielder's range, short hops, diving for balls, strong, quick throws (i.e. demonstrates very good fielding skills and athleticism) and the video is fast paced and gets to the point quickly. These are two areas I would highlight.

Also what I love too is that its a personal You Tube channel. Add content to that channel and promote the snot out of it.

We also created a Facebook for warriorangela for colleges to review. Because old people still use FB. We just add clips to the FB and lets others check it out. Once she is off to college we will shut it down.

My perspective comes from someone who doesn't have a kid who has been recruited, I have seen a few of these though and thought you did a good job. A couple of things I'd like to see: 1) Show off her stretch at 1B, betting she can practically do the splits and really steal a few outs in a game. 2) Show off that arm! I agree with the comments above about a tighter screen on those shots, the ball seems to come in real smooth and quick, but I think you can emphasize the strength of her throws even more. 3) If she can show off an inside out swing and go opposite field, it makes her look like an even more complete hitter. 4) When I see her hit, I just think "wow, when she gets her hips more involved she is going to be really tough to defend."
