Freedom comes with responsibility to others. The libertarian (not the political party) in me wants people to be able to make decisions and get about their lives. The pragmatist in me says people have shown they can’t make good decisions to protect their fellow human beings. The answer? Responsible freedom with repercussions.

There is a lot of truth to this....

Related example. Everyone in our office is required to wear a mask. A short time ago the cleaner came in to empty my garbage can. As she was doing it, she lowered her mask, coughed into the open air, and then put her mask back up. I'm amazed I was able to keep my composure... I would like to believe that people are capable of acting responsibly, but I know for a fact that it will never happen.

A bit off topic, but related to this: I can't tell you how many times I see people walking around stores with a mask, but they get to the cashier and lower the mask to talk. That's when you need it the most!

"...lower mask to talk."
Sounds like better coaching is needed.;)

Phase 4....
Gatherings: Gatherings of 50 people or fewer are allowed with this limit subject to change based on latest data and guidance
Travel: Travel should follow IDPH and CDC approved guidance Health care: All health care providers are open
Education and child care: P-12 schools, higher education, all summer programs, and child care open with IDPH approved safety guidance
Outdoor Recreation: All outdoor recreation allowed
First question: is a softball tournament a gathering larger that 50
OR
Is it “all outdoor recreation”?

And who has the action on when Phase 4 happens? I want to put a sawbuck on August.

If they follow the plan exactly, absolute earliest any region of Illinois to Phase 4 is June 27th. Although I would love July 1, August 1 seems like a good mix of hope and realistic.

27 deaths in the southern most 16 counties of Illinois. 24 of which came from long term care or nursing facilities. The other 3 were in the high risk category.

We are socially distant because we don’t live on top of each other. Our economy is being crippled for what benefit. If those counties were opened up and those people in the high risk categories took precautions and the rest of us used common sense and avoided certain behaviors, washed our hands frequently and avoided contact unless necessary I just cannot see there being a situation where that death total goes from 27 to 1,000. Let the towns have little league with minor reasonable modifications.

DD’s coach has been calling the players and parents to gauge how everybody feels about starting back up. Every single person said let’s go. Since we had 3 tournaments scheduled for June in Illinois we will most likely end up playing in surrounding states instead. Pritzker is already prematurely talking about continuing e learning and no sports this fall, so I have little faith there will be any softball in Illinois this summer.

I imagine many club teams will drive to those neighboring states in order to play if they are allowed.

Alabama is behind GA, TN, FL and MS in opening. It is looking like some of the earliest tournaments will be in GA toward the middle/end of May. Lots of discussion on teams traveling to play in tournaments they would not normally travel that far to play in just to get games in. Also, lots of stuff directed at each other not wanting a bunch of teams from out of State to show up and mess things up for those lucky enough to open, lol.
Were in PA and we'll be on the road a lot this summer.
