Wait a minute... 18 months and she can't hit the side of a barn? 18 months? And you're at the same coach? Wow, you are on patient individual!!!
I'm unclear how 18 months can go by without addressing that. Or am I missing something like usual?
I find that when you have good brush—control becomes pretty easy. After new girls demonstrate some consistent reps with good posture, whip and brush, I ask them to throw a few with their eyes closed. This is always an eye opening experience for both pitchers and parents!
Thank you @Ken B @STRIKE3 and @Hillhouse. Your comments feel like you've shaken me awake . I'm not exaggerating much about her lack of control. She's had a few good outings, but in today's lesson, she missed our 9x7 net five consecutive pitches.
Ive been patient for several reasons. iShe started somewhat late. She can allow her head to get the best of her. Also, I got the sense that IR was just hard to learn and even harder to find someone to teach it. I also wondered if it was because I screwed her up somehow.
If I could summarize her issues I'd say she doesn't understand how her arm should move through the bottom of the pitch. She isn't taught brush. I think Tincher calls it the slot. But it is different. Regardless, DD practices everyday, but usually ends up turning her elbow early and causing a pushing motion similar to EU but without the snap, and she's all over the yard.
Thanks again. You've given me a lot to think about.

This is fantastic. Sorry if this is off topic but how do you go about specifically working on control? My daughter has been with a Tincher coach for 18 months. She throws very hard but can't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 paces.
