Work=wins,

The short to or knob to the ball affects the amount of time the barrel is on plane, early batspeed or TTB gets the barrel on plane earlier then knob to the ball. You want to be quick to the pitch plane and not quick to the ball/knob to the ball. Creating a nike swoosh creates a big margin for error in the swing path in case your early or late.

How is your method different then hands to the ball or a push swing?

edit: A push swing is a easier swing to learn and can be very successful. Most are taught a push swing.

Who said anything about a push swing? Do you think Ortiz pushes? It’s funny. No pro talks about TTB. But they do talk about knob to the ball. No good pro talks about getting behind the ball. They do talk about being on top.

Here are a few PRO instructors and players talking about real actions that take place in their swings. I mean maybe they just don’t know what they are talking about? Or maybe just maybe others don’t know what they are talking about... I wonder?

I mean. It’s just silly to not try and understand what the best do. They are the best for a reason.

It’s not knob to the ball. It’s knob inside to a release point.

Dave Hudgens say's that early arcing is a swing flaw. Almost everything being discussed today is what he said/says is a flaw in most amateur hitters (or young Pros). He teaches the arc is out front or not behind the body. The barrel is above the hands/shoulder like you suggested until the barrel arcs. He explains it similar to Ortiz, instead of A to B to C, it's more A to B (I'm paraphrasing).

You can attribute it TTB, knob inside to a release point or voodoo magic but it is hard to deny that good hitters have a barrel path which can be described as "arcing early"

If it's not a push swing and it's about getting the knob to a "release point" then the knob is turning immediately hence the barrel is turning as well.

Yup. But the intent for both are actions yield different reactions. KTB -The initial turn with the hands maintains control of the barrel. You haven’t committed yet. You have just loaded the barrel.

TTB- If you turn it from max tip, you have lost precious time to read the pitch longer and make better decisions. Not to mention control.

Look at these two.

Notice how Trout can cheat fastball and adjust.

Judge can only hit one speed at a time.

It’s as simple as the pros direct the knob to create turn the barrel. Not turn the barrel to create deep whoosh or bat speed behind them. You can watch whoever you want. The real speed is AFTER the first initial arcing of the barrel. Not max speed from max tip.

Thanks for your post. Yes it's a build up, although there has to be something that gets it started. It's a double pendulum created from the start. As you past through the lag position the barrel really starts to arc, although it takes 90 degrees of movement to reach the lag position.

An adjustment made without affecting the turning of the barrel, still has a sharp/tight turn. Rotational point created with the hands.
