IM1, there is a lot of good taking place right here ....

Learn to start the lower body action using the muscles in the rear 'upper leg' instead of relying on the upper body to get the action started.

Been a little while since I posted here so I thought I would add a small update. ASA tournaments this spring started out pretty good but Megan ended up with a pretty bad ankle sprain during the first weekend. After the third weekend and things not getting better we ended up going to an orthopedic specialist who got us going in the right direction. Now we are in the middle of the High School season with Megan playing on the freshman team and part of the time on the sophomore team. Earlier this week she was playing a morning game (I had to work) and during her first at bat she blasts one down the 3rd base line and came within a foot or so of a home run! I think she is still smiling about that one. Have to once again thank all of you for the excellent advise.

Hey everyone. Little League is back in season and figured I would stop back in and see how everybody is doing here. I see several of you are still here giving out great advice to us occasional weekend warriors :)

Anyway, here is a couple of clips of Megan. First video was shacking off the rust in the 35mph cage after having not batted since last summer.

I am not a fan of the point the bat to the pitcher and then load back and swing. I just believe it is alot of extra movement for no reason...
Most college girls dont do it...Never seen a MLB player do it.
Its a fake bunt, fake swing many highschool, some travel ball coach's do.it

Looks like she has been doing this for awhile in her swing. JMO

Others might like , to each his own..

I think it changes your mechanics from the standard set up. Many girls I work with were forced to do this by their highschool coach's and they tell me they dont like it and it mess's up their normal swing

I understand what you mean SL. Just kinda her thing at the moment. Not something I would teach to others and likely will work her away from it at some point. Oddly enough, during live pitching she does it, but most times she seems to pause after loading to determine if she wants to take the pitch or not. Weather permitting, we have our first game Tuesday - will try to get some footage from that if I get the opportunity.

Immortal1 ... what your daughter gains from that maneuver is something I refer to as a 'forward press'. There are much simpler ways to realize this ... so if you have it in your mind to remove the maneuver, do so in a manner that retains the 'forward pressing' type action.
