Check Griffey’s and Ted hands staying in one place until pulled forward. Like Gehrig said, keep your hands back and ready to hit.Turning the valve.

Getting too high or inside heaters w an inside the ball or delayed approach can kill power opportunities. Like the best pros say, they try to see it and react. Pretty sure Don Slaught made ‘ITB’ popular. He said he hit for a better average but couldn’t hit for power anymore.

There is no delay, There’s your problem.

When a guy has an oppo approach.. it should be a timing cue not a physical one. You don’t want to dumb down the hands. That’s how the bat gets planed and released on time all the time. Once the bottom hand is educated, getting on top is the feel and real of the situation. The famous top hand will release the torque and force up and towards the ball while the bottom hand releases it down and out. Those opposing forces powers the bat. IOW the bottom hand pulls while the top hand pushes.

Radial deviation which is ‘inside the ball’ physically is extended lag or delay. That’s what Slaught meant. ‘You can hit the inside pitch up the middle, delaying the release of the head so you have more time to hit it. That’s the ‘new’ oppo approach. This mostly has caused hitting instruction to suck and create many new ways to hit lol.

Oppo is a timing thing. Let it get deep. Don’t dumb down your hands and lengthen your swing! Yes that’s what TM teaches. That’s why he likes deep woosh and deep contact.
