Looking at their website it looks Matt Cain & Drew Pomeranz did quite well. There are few other name I recognize but those are the two biggest that jumped out.

I picked up a very good player last spring who left her team
after the inaugural team meeting where the manager requested
an up-front payment of $2500 and an additional $7500 due by
May 20th. Part of the cost was a trip to showcase tourney in
Colorado. She played on my team in 2 showcase tournaments
in 2011 that were within commuting distance

If you throw 95 mph as a junior in high school, your arm will be toast by the time you make it to the majors.

These cases are drafted right out of HS, but you have to remember at that speed they are probably closers or left handed specialists. And may only pitch 1-2 innings a game. Top HS starters around here average 85-92.

Im certainly glad you guys know everything about baseball too. My little brother did throw 95 mph as a jr. in highschool. He averaged anywhere from 20 to 30 radar guns behind the plate as a senior on every apearance. It was a circus. He is currently beginning his second full season in double "A" ball.He is a starter with a excellent curveball. Knock on wood(KNOCK ...KNOCK)...his arm is healthy. I love you bro!!!Anyway...he played for an excellent travel team which definitely costed a small fraction of 25k yearly.By the time it was said and done with travelling to showcases my dad probably did spend that. How does all of this story relate to softball? My 3 daughters watched their uncle the whole way and they know in their hearts that anything is possible, hard work does pay off, and it doesn't really matter where your from. They will find you if your good. It had that affect on our little baseball and softball community .

Most good pitchers throwing 95 MPH are drafted out of HS. ( I've seen a few over the years here in our city ) Probably to the tune of 5% nation wide. A pitcher who needs more experience or lack control are asked into AA.

My question is, why would you not take a college scholarship ( hone those pitching skills ) and get an education as a backup? That's what my brother and I did, and I'm glad because I had elbow problems starting my college senior year. Once you play AA you lose your amateur status and you've thrown the scholarship option out the door. All for around $1500 a month the first year.

Anyway...he played for an excellent travel team which definitely costed a small fraction of 25k yearly.By the time it was said and done with travelling to showcases my dad probably did spend that

Agreed, this organization and the $25,000 is all inclusive. All plans, accommodations, travel arrangements are pre-planned........so you just show up and play.

How does all of this story relate to softball?

Well, since I started it I guess I better answer it. It was a comparison of a nationally top ranked baseball organization and it's costs, and a nationally Gold or Premier level softball organizations costs. Because if you really crunch the numbers, a good A class softball travel family probably comes closer than you think to $25,000 a year.

The only difference is you don't have to mess with the planning stage, I guess if you have money ( which I don't )it's a bonus not to have the hassle.

I better start saving up. Im curious how many division 1 softball players came from middle class families? If you're not showcased...it sounds like you have very little chance.

Holy COW! The coaches are being paid to be full time at baseball and not at anything else. That is the only thing I can figure is drivign up the costs. Gees!
