She always did IR in games.

In her instructional videos, she does the HE finish.

Amanda has come a long way since then. She's still holding onto some of her of some old teachings, but overall, she's listened to input and modified what she teaches. Hope she keeps on that path! amandascarborough

So true...there are so many bad pitching coaches. too many are former players that were really good but just do not understand how to teach what there doing. My fav you tube video is a former olympian pitcher telling and demonstrating (without throwing a ball) a group of very young girls to finish high with the hello elbow. She then goes on to show an live pitching example where you can clearly see her arm and snap driving towards her target. after the pitch she smoothly shows the hello elbow. All I could think of was what was take away for those young girls.

I've had several students go to her clinic and come back confused because Amanda teaches the push down/pull up/HE in her clinics.

As to why she teaches that? My best guess is that is how she was taught, and she doesn't know how to teach any other way.

I can tell you all for fact that Amanda was never taught HE. Thats because my pitching coach mentor is Ken Hazelwood. Amanda's and Megan Gibson's pitching coach from little ones all the way through college at A&M. Ken is all about finishing the snap forward. Everything in Amanda's 1000 frame video is Ken Hazzlewood teachings. Her HE finish is purely cosmetic on her part.
