Yeah key word.. drives .. think of hammering something, that's driving! Suppination, not much driving force there.. Yelich talks about keeping it short, .. not the first time he's said that either. Drills he's talking about reinforce that.. high tee, drive the ball into the plate etc.. cleans up his path

To play devil's advocate here for a second, drills that reinforce things may not have the same effect on somebody who needs a path overhaul..

I would really be interested in seeing what was actually done, drills, etc (if anything) with JD Martinez to get him to overhaul his path. Yes I know where people stand on his improvements, that isn't what I am asking.

That's possible right.. personally I've already said quite few times, not here to convince anybody of trying to change their way of instruction. But I also keep saying, if I'm instructing somebody I'm starting with things like sequence, posture etc. I've seen on many occasions most people on this site (TTB or not) refer to the Justin Stone video for newcomers who have issue with sequence.

Do you see improvements in JD's sequence and posture?

Of course. From a teaching perspective, I am curious to know what somebody did to improve the path of somebody who had been hitting a certain way for 20 years.

So Cal
Yep, get to the hitting position before the hands get pulled "down to" Yelich doesn't always get there early enough but discussed one swing segment where he was in the process of getting there and the pitcher still hadn't released the pitch. I am guessing from a hitters perspective he felt like he had all day to hit.

If the front side contraction is the driver, what causes the rear hip to get thrust forward?
