Here Braun describes that his first step in his swing warmup is to get the upper body working.
Braun's approach is to get the upper body working first, and once he feels that is working properly, he adds the lower body. He claims to be doing the same thing with the upper body when he incorporates his lower body.
Doug, I agree. He clearly states that his first drill is about warming up his upper body without his lower body. When he feels that is warmed up properly he adds the lower body and states that he is doing the same thing with the upper body that he was doing before.
It's basically a two-step warmup .... he gets the upper body working first (he does speak of the 'hands') and then marries that with the lower body.
Those that truly listen to Candrea understand that he speaks of doing pretty much the same thing. I've seen him speak of "live and independent hands" many times ..... and he does such a two step sequence (and Candrea does also speak of the 'hands').
While I really like this idea, I'm skeptical approaching it this way with hitters who have, what I refer to as, a chipper swing. That is, those who somewhat chop straight from shoulder to point of contact, resulting in chips. I dunno, maybe with the right focus in the first step (upper body focus) it could work for them.
SL, This is the dumbest thing I've seen posted on DFP lately.. Please stop!!!!!!
Either you meant something other than what you wrote OR you are special in some way???
