DD signed up without my knowing about it. She thought it was legit. Well I got two phone calls last week for: 1) Skills Video; and 2) Setting up Profile for recruiting. The second phone call was for 1/2 an hour talking about DD and then them talking about the process. She then set up an interview time with a recruiting specialist for Wednesday night. I asked how much this was going to cost us...her reply "It varies...depends on your daughter's qualifications...can be nothing to couple of hundred to a couple of thousand dollars". Seriously? -_-

Anyway, I haven't replied to the "confirmation" email yet...wanted to find out from the "experts" what they know about NCSA. :)

I know nothing about them. I do know that you absolutely do not need a recruiting service to get recruited. You guys can do it all in your own, down to your skills video. I know many college players/college bound players. I don't know a single one who used a service of any kind.

Ditto re Scl1991.

FWIW, Cathy Aradi's book (approx. $10-15) available through the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFPA) is an excellent recruiting guide.

^^^^^^ I second this. In this day and age of "services" Ive been thru 2 nephews playing college BB, no recruiting services. My own DD, no recruiting services. 5 of my DD's HS seniors, no services. Kept track of around 30+ girls this year we know or played with, no services.

Now if you can't read or write, that would be the time you pay for a service. Almost anything you need to know about the process of recruiting can be found on this forum ( from people with experience ) or 1000's of other Internet sites.

You asked if NCSA is legit. It is. But as others have said, you don't need it. You can obviously write, so you can help your daughter compose emails that will have a much greater chance of being read than ones coming from an NCSA address. You are better off PMing some of the posters on this board and getting their advice on specifics. I'm sure many would be happy to provide you with email templates they used.

Absolutely! There's a wealth of info on DFP. Use this resource!
We did all DD's recruiting stuff on our own and very successfully. I'd be glad to offer our experience to you.

Years ago, I started a thread on another website about my dd's recruitment. I don't know if I added any of that info on this site. If I find time later today, I'll cut and paste some of that information in a thread on college recruitment. Maybe it will help some.

We signed up sophomore year. It's been very helpful - you have all the tools to research colleges, programs, etc. We can see who is following our daughter, how many times they have looked at her - up to date contact info for the coaches, etc. we spent about $800 and it included 2 videos. Don't think we will use second. We asked if we would get our $ back in case of an injury. They tell you what to do each quarter of every HS year. It's very legit. DynamiteSports - Rick Wire has a good book and came and spoke at our HS.
