Waiting for the 2017 line of bats to come out but I've heard many people say that it's the same bat with a new paint job. I'm assuming that a lot of engineering goes into these bats every year and while it's no guarantee that the bat is superior to years before, they're at least trying, right?

Also, where are these new bats, why so late this year?

Mostly new color- every once in a while the will re-engineer to try to get rid of a flaw or tweak. Most of the time they are not changing a lot... And if they are changing the bat significantly they will come out with a new model and add it to their line I.e. Several years ago CF8 had only a couple of models (end loaded and balanced) then a couple of years ago they added a slapper model. They also have a couple of less expensive models Vendetta &Bustos

Not quite. The CF8 Slapper was introduced at the same time as the rest of the CF8 lineup, but is a new model to the CF-series bats. Demarini's only end-loaded model is the Insane, which has been in the CF-series lineup for a number of years.

Historically, there have been changes to Demarini and LS's bats from one year to the next. Sometimes it's an actual improvement, sometimes not.

Wow condescend much?
Ok thank you for pointing out my error - mr expert. I couldn't possibly have meant the CF series when I typed CF8 and then talked about them being released several years ago.

I stand by my assertion- they usually release a new model if there is significant engineering changes.

The poster asked if there were significant changes from year to year MY answer is not really. I am practically speaking as a purchaser and huge fan of the CF5 CF6 & CF8.

Settle down Beavis. Words like "significant" have different meanings to different people. He didn't call your mama names...he corrected your incorrect statements about the CF8 line-up and gave his opinion on the matter.

I had zero intent to be condescending. My apologies if my response came across that way. I was trying to clarify things for the benefit of others who may be researching bat info.

Thanks for the info, want to move DD to a drop 10 and she currently has the cf8.

Interesting because I have heard and read that the cf7 was not so good.

If you can find another CF8 in the correct size/weight for her, it would be a good choice. The CF8s have proven to be pretty hot. Waiting for the CF9s to be released in June is a gamble. The CF8 will also be cheaper right now since the manufacturers have released their pricing limitations.

Many people have observed that the CF7 was an under-performer compared with the 5, 6, and 8.

Also, if you're buying new, I highly recommend sending a message to CoreSoftball20. He is a bat dealer, and has proven to have the best legit pricing around. Many, many DFP'ers have used Core (I'm about 5 or 6 bats into our relationship...so far).

Bats DO get significant changes and they don't add it to the line or change names. The slapper was not a significant change,
it was same tech as the CF8, just a different type of CF8 and released same time. Just like there is a balanced, endload, sprite...yada yada.

Bats get overhauls every few years as R&D develops new technology. They don't change the name of the bat nor
add it to the line. The lineup continues to evolve. No, not every year it gets overhauled as there is no need.
Just tweaks here and there and sometimes its cosmetic.
