2 questions on pitching (sort of)

We had a radar gun given to us and we want to gun our DD. Not to see how fast she throws, but to get a basis to start at and hopefully to see improvement. The problem. I don't have a clue how to run this thing. When do I pull the trigger?....ie. when do we want to pick up the speed of the ball...

Face masks/ball coming off the bat statistics

I was hoping to find some info in the other face mask thread. My daughter is doing a paper for school on the use of face masks. I'm hoping that some of you can help us out. We need to find some kind of statistics on how fast a ball comes off a bat and injury statistics. It can't be people's...

how do you know when it's enough innings pitched

Not sure I can explain how I'm feeling, but here goes..... My daughter is a pitcher for a tournament team. There are a couple others....some stronger them others. But, this isn't what the thread is about. She does get a fair amount of time on the mound, but we (including her) always go away...

Got to watch a 10U TB for the first time ever.....

and I was amazed. My daughter didn't start TB till 12U, so I missed out on the younger years. The little 3rd baseman looked like she was about 6. She was so cute....but she certainly knew what to do. The pitching was pretty good too. If anyone on here was in the Battle Creek Michigan...

    upcoming H.S ball.....question

My DD is a freshman this year and I am wondering about something. She is a pitcher and I was already told by the varsity coach that she would have no problems making varsity. She played summer ball with them last summer. Only her and 1 other 8th grader was invited. We were honored and had a...

    dropball question

I'm not sure if I'm asking this right to get the answer I'm looking for, but here goes. Where should the dropball be crossing the plate. If a batter doesn't swing at it......will it be a ball....or should it cross the plate in the strike zone. The reason I ask is because when my daughter...

    pitching slump...what to do

MY DD U14 is playing for 2 teams. Tournament and travel/league play(playing 4-5 nights a week). She started the season off real good. Threw a no hitter and had 10 K's in the next game. But, the past 2 games....she has been in a slump. I mean, to the point of throwing balls in the dirt...

    Over hand throws VS. pitching

Has anyone ever had their DD's over hand throw clocked and if so......what was the difference in speed between the overhand throw and their pitch. Should there be a difference......., should it be a big difference or just a mile or two difference?

    High school ball ?

Is high school like travel...you can play up, but not down. Basically, when you are a junior/senior, do you have to play varsity or can you still play for JV

    The DRop

My daughter (U14...pitching lessons for 2 years) was shown how to throw the drop for the 1st time today. After just a couple times of throwing it...she got it. I was catching and amazed ....that thing actually dropped LOL Remember, we are new into this pitching thing...so I get excited easy by...

    The Bow thread video deleted

I have deleted the video because of the trouble it has caused. I should not have posted anything with someone else in the background. I apologize to all those involved. Lesson learned.

    The bow

I have deleted this video because, when originally posted, I had no idea it would cause such a ruckus and I also should not have posted a video with others in the background To all involved.....Sorry for the trouble I've caused

    obsessed with softball?.......not me LOL

OK...here is kind of a fun thread, but sort of looking for advice too. My family...sisters, mom, etc thinks that my hubby, me and DD are obsessed with softball. They aren't into it (or any sport) and they don't understand the softball way of life. We play for a tournament team and will play...

    Throwing a curve

My U14 DD just started learning the curve ball today. Any words of wisdom or tips that can help us? They had us buy a hockey puck to practice getting it to spin the right way. They had a special tool for the lesson, but said a puck would accomplish the same thing and that way we could practice...

    was I right or wrong

A couple years ago I was coaching 3rd base for our first year U12 team. I was not the head coach. It was a close game and if we won, we would have advanced....if we lost, we were done. We had one on 1st and one on 2nd. The batter hit the ball and ran to 1st....the 2nd was heading to me. Just...
