Throwing a curve

My U14 DD just started learning the curve ball today. Any words of wisdom or tips that can help us? They had us buy a hockey puck to practice getting it to spin the right way. They had a special tool for the lesson, but said a puck would accomplish the same thing and that way we could practice at home.

Make sure that she understands what kind of spin she should be applying to the ball and that she can recognize it as the ball goes into the catcher's mitt. If she can't recognize the spin then she gets no feedback and can't self correct.
