I wouldn’t say they aren’t a thing in baseball. Travel baseball has no pitch counts that I am aware of. Little league and most HS does, but not travel. I see kids going 100+ in travel baseball all the time.
Actually, Perfect Game baseball tournaments do have pitch counts. My ds’ 17U team played in one this summer and it was required to keep track and logged. Makes it difficult to win a tournament unless you have several good arms (but it is a good thing). Typically most National type baseball tournaments do have pitch counts that are enforced. Lower level TB tourneys in baseball are the ones that don’t, and I’ve seen kids used repeatedly unless a parent intervened.

Transfer portal, college camps, live games feeds, and summer nationals,
All that is needed for colleges to recruit.

Since players are already in line with putting together their individual bios and sending video. Colleges traveling is unnecessary. Summer Nationals will get them a chance to see in person. Maybe Summer Nationals won't even matter 🤷‍♀️

I hope it kills the TB scene. What a scam it all is. Adults are ruining youth sports because of money. Imagine Scott Smith having to get a real job. Not much demand for a 50 year old who still wears flat bills. Hahaha

I could not be more glad to know other people think the same as I do about this.

And decimate the practice of tb coaches “ranking” players and the dopey $200 per year websites dutifully publishing the results.

It is all so distasteful.

It's all Tony Rico's fault. LOL!

DD's former TB coach saw through all of this. He made his own money through fast food MdDowell's franchising. He coached because he loved it. He recycled uniforms to keep dues low but played a highly competitive summer schedule. Played all the Nationals and saw no need to travel in the fall. Focused on the important things. Practiced a lot. His kept his program small and always said I don't want to run a league, I just want to coach my Gold team.

The only rankings I like are the US Club Rankings. Ranking performance of the teams rather than the individual which is subjective.

TB will reinvent itself over and over to continue. As it already has!

While people may not like the way money has taken over Society at least in sports people get more out of it than just buying a t-shirt with a brand on it.
