I wanted to ask him if he felt he got the call right.
Why? Not sure what this would have accomplished.

Put yourself in his shoes. A guy who you just got into a minor verbal spat with approaches you in the parking lot..how would you feel? He doesn't know you from Adam, you could have had a knife for all he knew..right?

Sometimes emotion gets the best of us, I certainly understand that.

The play in question occurred in the first inning. I had a rather cordial relationship with him the rest of the game as he kept asking me the score.

But, your original post is irrelevant, and I should have said that from the outset. The point was he overreacted during the game. It became about him, not the players, and his reaction in the parking lot just proved someone like him should not be an umpire.

True, my OP was not directly related to your point. That said, your non-answer regarding what it would have accomplished tells me the answer is nothing and that is relevant to the thread since it is about parents attacking umpires. I also stated that I understand that sometimes emotions sometimes get the best of us so an answer of I was upset and wanted to vent would have been acceptable...

I truly wanted to know if he realized the ball was outside the foul line and if he mistook the foul line for the out-of-bounds line. If so, he shouldn't be umpiring as those lines are 30 feet apart. And, considering he had a pregame conference about ground rules, he should have known.

I would want him to admit his mistake rather than dig in his heels and say it was his call and he thought it was fair. It wouldn't impact the game, but it might make him a better umpire in the future.

Fair enough I guess but like I said, unless you know the guy personally, approaching an umpire in the parking lot is likely going to spook them..they see the Social media stuff just like we do.

How you want somebody to handle things and how they get handled are going to be ongoing frustration regardless.

Our coach is a brain dead moron who doesn't even know what day it is.
Your comment about the coach you play for is probably part of your frustration.

Couple different things that are out of your control that are part of this dilemma.

Any kind of official is going to have to deal with the possibility they may be wrong in the moment. Then they're going to have to have a strategy of how to deal that if in fact they are wrong. It sounds like the umpire had to come to a means to their decision.
How they did that is within there job.

That said
This thread seems more a vent then it is trying to understand.
Also I'm not going to pick a side to the story and how it happened but I think following someone else out to their car without knowing what they have in their car is putting yourself In Harm's Way.

I will admit that in my daughter's younger days I may have been vocal about umpiring. Part of that could have been that my daughter is a pitcher. I believe it can be more frustrating for a pitcher's parent than other members, but I digress. Early on our coach, who was a referee in football, took a very calm approach. It really helped to reform me, although I may still groan when I see a good pitch called a ball. I was by no means abusive. But I now go out of my way at times to thank umpires who call a good game. Luckily, we have two or three that I see regularly in both high school and travel, and they are pretty good. One older umpire (in his 70's) is spectacular, and I know if he is umpiring it's going to be a good game.
