Is that word dare I say, Illegal?

Oh, I dunno.... Given how some of these great pitchers pitch, the word "illegal" seems to be subjective. The word "jump," when used in the same sentence as "riseball," tends to give rise to mean arguments, some that defy physics. HERE WE GO.....

Barnhill is an absolute beast in the circle. Incredibly efficient and throws her riseball consistently to 3 different zones. Has a 0.25 ERA, 110 strikeouts to only 14 walks. There is a reason she was named to Team USA and is playing for the #1 team in the nation. Florida will be very tough to beat in the WCWS with their outstanding and deep pitching staff.

FWIW - She was named to Team USA before she ever threw a pitch in college. Her college stats/performance was never considered. It is truly unfortunate that college softball, especially with regard to officiating is looking more and more like professional wrestling.

ever wondered what KB's ERA would be IF she was asked to pitch legally?

To your point, it should not be a request. A more interesting question would be what would happen to an umpire if they showed the testicular fortitude to do their job? I have to think that would be their last day on the clay.

The fact you point out (dont know if it is true) she was selected before she played in college just shows the brilliance of the selection committee. If she stunk that would be a good point. Second, She is one of many kids that are arguably not legal. And I say arguably because it is not getting called.

Would like to clarify something. I believe how I interpret the rules that they are not legal. The question is why? Personally I think if you cant see daylight under a kids foot it isnt getting called. Someone called it a travesty, ruining the game and taking the purity out of the game. Well thats just funny to me. With recruiting starting at such a young age the game loses its purity way before college. This is big girl ball and peoples lively hood is on the line. And if you arent trying to get some sort of advantage (stealing signs, or tipping locations etc) you lose.

Cat Osterman has similar lower body mechanics as KB, a little skippy and possible replant and she is considered one of the best pitchers ever.

Leap and drag is so unnatural and silly. Move the pitching plate back to 46 feet and let them pitch like the men's game.

In examining both pitcher's drive leg, IMHO:
Frame 1 shows a loaded drive leg
Frame 2 shows a drive leg that has unloaded (extended).
Frame 3 shows a re-loaded drive leg
Frame 4 shows a drive leg that has unloaded (extended).
