Now of topic, but since Knight has cleared up the confusion, we can talk about the issues around this demo.(Bustos)

Good point Mann.

Here's the clip that you posted in the original post.

And I like it. If the camera was more from the side than in front, I would like it more.

Same with my shots, it would look different from the side.

Looks the same to me from the side. Just because we have a side view shouldn't fool you into believing that the top hand is directly over the top elbow ..... it isn't.

I really think that you are the only person that quotes that the top hand is directly over top the elbow.
To be clear...

The hand stacked over the elbow will be on a different angle depending on pitch location.

Hope that clears it up for you.

When are we presuming the top hand should be directly over the top elbow or shouldn't be? At the slot position or I think some call it RVP?

We have video of a few instructors teaching having the top hand directly above the rear elbow at the RVP position, along with SL's daughter demonstrating it ... but for the most part that has died down. There were even instructors on here advocating having the top hand vertically stacked over the rear elbow further downstream. Now-a-days people are a bit more accepting of reality.

Just so I understand. From the picture of Lockwood, it shows the top hand is not vertically over the top elbow (you highlighted), but if you do a side view from the other batters box it may appear very close to being on top of each other. Which view are you talking about? I see it impossible with a face on view to have them vertically stacked if you have tilt and balance.

Regardless of the view, the top hand is not vertically stacked over the top elbow.

Stever...don't make my mistake...I'm pretty certain that if you really sought out a given position in a swing (i.e. hand over elbow) you could find it...

IMO...Don't get hung up on teaching "positions" in the swing...RVP or "the truth" are just checkpoints...they are STATIC positions in a DYNAMIC movement.

If your DD doesn't achieve "RVP" (for example) it is easy enough to show her\teach her this position but the reality is this: she didn't get to RVP because of something that went awry prior to that point in the swing...CP

what is the purpose of a "good RVP point"?

For instance, you cannot get the barrel down to the ball very easy, if you are stacked, but in the position Manny is in above, you can. With the vertical forearm, as where Williams is, toast on a low pitch.
