I enjoyed reading my post on the other site today. Then a quote of a few players that he can take credit for making him the greatest ever and only person that teaches the correct swing. There is a person that use to post on here that Hi blasts all the time, I think the latest count is over 100 plus that have went on to play college ball. Boulderdad's dd being one! He doesn't hold a candle to Hitter, Howard Carrier, but he can keep on dreaming about being the greatest ever. knightsb, since you were on Hi when he made the post didn't it seem strange to you he could only brag about a few!

Please point the thread out, don't see it or u embellish your post at hi. Tell your guru to post again to enlightened the new dads and moms. To help their dds. If not, got to say cb doesnt practice what hc preaches. Video proves it. Good night sir

00fpdaddy, don't know if "CB" refers to me and so, if so, how have I not practiced what I preach? Per the "video proves it, you have me at a disadvantage. Please let me know and I'll do my best to address your concerns.

If you are stating about me posting video of my child, then I posted video of her from age 10 to 16. If you are referring to others I coached, I only obtained permission from one parent of a young lady I coached to post her swing and only did so once because I have never professed to be any type of guru.

Cannonball, just so you'll know sooner than later, "CB isn't short for Cannonball". The ''CB" referred to is a student of "HC". .

Thanks! I lag behind some of these conversations and so miss out on some of this. We are getting ready for 3rd Qtr. Finals and so, I have tons of papers to grade.

BTW, I went to see if I could find older video of my child to post. I had asked FFS if he had saved any of the old video of her. The only thing I could find is video of her at age 13 hitting with a wood/weighted bat. I have a heck of a time getting my stuff to upload here but might try to post that video at some point.

WOW. CB is an amazing athlete. Good inspiration for my granddaughter...but from just observing how she actually swings...., she doesn't practice what she teaches either. From what I can tell, her current instructional videos don't resemble her own swing.

The actions at barrel-transition are critical to the building of a good swing.

You can not efficiently apply torque while thrusting the top hand forward. Shoving both hands forward will only accelerate the bat length-wise ... knob first.

To apply torque, the top hand must pull in a direction orthogonal to the length of the bat.

???
I thought to apply torque (to the bat) the top hand pushes forward on the bat handle while the bottom hand pulls back on the bat handle.....

It is pretty clear that your comments are directed at the contact point of the swing while some of us are talking of a point way upstream.

Your comment in another thread about the contact point looking like a box - while I had made a tongue in cheek comment that Bustos was turning a triangle - which is way before contact - also illustrates how we are talking about much different points in the swing.

Cannonball I'm married to a teacher and sounds like one of her lines. She says you can consider yourself a very good( Smart) teacher, but if your students don't succeed you are a failure! We have many good teachers on this site, but few have produced any students to show success to back that teaching up!

I simply asked:

Who are the few that have successful students, who are the students, and how do you measure success?

Your response (I assume it was aimed at me since you called me out):

Look, I am just the father of a 14yo player trying to help her learn how to swing the bat, I am not a hitting instructor. I was honestly asking who are those that post on here that are successful. I understand HC is/was successful, but he doesn't post on here any more.

DD has been practicing at three different indoor facilities over the winter. I have watched many "hitting instructors" all winter long, many of these guys have reputations of being the "best in the area". To be honest whether I follow HC mechanics/methods or HI mechanics/methods DD is going to be far better off than she would be if I were paying $40 for a weekly hitting lesson around here. Last week I watched an instructor have a student hitting balls off the tee with the knob of the bat all the while reinforcing the drill, "take the knob to the ball, take the knob to the ball"... I saw another instructor place an obstacle (large punching bag) behind the batter so that they would swing down on the ball vs the way she was launching the barrel early...

It is no secret that RayR teaches similar to HI mechanics. It just so happens he took an interest in DDs hitting thread, as did many.... You know how these things work, you see a parent ask for help with their DDs swing, then they get many different suggestions on things to fix.... That's what happened with DDs thread. We got many suggestions on things to fix, and we tried them all. DD and I read the thread responses together. It just so happened that DD really liked, felt what RayR was saying to do. She said she could really "feel" the whip of the bat better by having more active hands/forearms and launching the barrel rearward.... so, we went with what she "felt" and decided to explore that path. Through DDs thread I learned about HI and BBD.... didn't even have a clue they previously existed. On February 3, 2013, I joined HI and BBD. On HI, there was already a thread started mentioning my DD. I started interacting with that thread and in my opinion, started to receive some very good information. So.... that's why you saw me on HI, I go there for information, to learn, and feedback on DDs swing. I now also frequent BBD and as always DFP...

It is tough to post raw video of your DD and put her out there with all the good, bad and ugly, exposing all the flaws. The more that post asking for help, the more different people can learn, especially if the OP follows through with the thread so that others can follow the progress.... then they can judge for themselves what suggestions have worked and which ones have not.

Excellent post Knights. People get very defensive when their beliefs are challenged and some followers start to question what they are being told. It happens everyday in all walks of life not just hitting. My advice to anyone is to try different things and take what you like. It's a progression, people expect you to get the answer immediately and sometimes it doesn't come that fast.
