I have read some of Mankin's stuff lately about how all energy and speed should be about depleted at contact, and not saved for the follow through
I don't necessarily disagree with this, but explain this....
I have two girls I work with, both have pretty sound mechanics, both are athletic, both...
I understand what you are saying about turning the barrel rearward. Get on plane deep in the zone, and the other high level benefits from this action, etc.
What causes this action in your opinions?
Do you promote the idea that the hands unhinging immediately cause this action?
Or does the...
Looking for the first thing you would work on with a new student.
I know it much depends on the players current ability and mechanics, but what would you look at first on improving assuming all elements of the swing needed a little work?
Many would say the 'sequence' of the swing, or the 7...
I've seen different bottom hand elbow positioning in the set up, and in the initiation of the swing. I've seen coaches teach to have it just hang close to the body, I've seen some teach to have it up away from the body.
What is your view on the positioning of the front elbow and why?
I really like the idea of Howards 'Matrix' or slow motion swing. My only concern is that it promotes squishing the bug, as you cannot get the forward momentum into the front leg.
Am I missing something as far as getting the correct feel with the lower half when doing the Matrix drill?
I will...
I see that most of the MLB players have a similar back arm load, as Dr. Yeager is teaching in this clip.
Perfect Back-Arm---Phase1-LOAD - YouTube
I reviewed all of the model swings of the NCAA players and only found a few that used a similar back arm load.
Why?
I was reading a baseball thread, and they were talking about the Jim Booth Hip Isolation Drill, but the video example of the drill was taken down.
FiveFrameSwing was involved in the discussion, was wondering if he, or another could share the drill?
Thanks ahead of time.
We started with this drill (bat pinned against shoulder). If we added separation of the hands or backside drive, she lost connection.
Any ideas what to work on before/after this drill to further the progress?
Thanks ahead of time, and sorry for poor video...
I definately see the bat drag in picture 'A'. Would you say 'B' is an improvement, or just later in the swing?
Also attached is a typical impact position, and typical extension photo.
Looking for any advice for small improvements. She is 13, and hits the ball pretty well on a 14A travel team.
This hitting device has probably been discussed...before my time on this site.
Just looking for any hands on experience with this bat, Pros & Cons?
Thanks ahead of time.
