    12yo playing 16u softball HELP!!

My daughter, also a pitcher, always played up. It was nice for the challenge, and I think she became a better pitcher for the experience. She is now 18 and headed off to play in college. However, based on my experience, I would offer the following for your consideration: the chatter in an 18U...

    Quality Fall/Winter Softball Camps

The Rise Ball Camp in November is good. They keep the players busy the whole day, very little idle time. Good quality instruction by college coaches.

What's the Worst Thing An Opposing Team Did?

The coach of the opposing team was ejected from the game. He was upset that his team continued playing the game without listening to his instructions from the stands. He became so angry that he started throwing water bottles over the dugout fence at his own players. Slamming full water bottles...

    Indecision

I suggest you find a new team. My daughter chooses her teams carefully, and a coach who is a yeller is a deal-killer for her. I told her that most coaches get caught up in the intensity of the game and will resort to yelling at some point. She calmly told me that male coaches who yell, scream...

It is okay to use your Radar Gun on another team?

I don't mind anyone standing there with their radar device measuring pitches, but I am getting annoyed with the men I have observed filming my daughter. It's creepy. The next time, unless they have a college logo on their shirt, I am going to stand in front of the camera until they get the message.

Who went to Pennsbury and How did it go?

My daughter attended on Thursday. As others mentioned, I was impressed with the number of players there, and with the quality of players. It was a good experience. Some good things in the results and some not so good. We will most likely attend again next year.

Long article - taking a leave from jobs and school

I think that is a great idea! I'll bet those kids will remember those few months as some of the best of their childhood.

Suggestions for 13" mitt for my 15 year old daughter

+1 for Nakona. Great product. Significant break in time, but worth it.

How should DD handle Parents suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect

Asking the HC to implement a 'no parents on the field' rule, along with a reminder that all coaching issues be directed to the HC, would be appropriate. Since this young coach has worked with the HC for some time, they should have a good enough relationship that this request will not be awkward...

What do you think are the 3 most important values to promote in softball?

Learn how to win and lose graciously. Good sportsmanship...be a role model athlete. Always play to win, bring your 'A' game to every game. Teamwork...take accountability for your team and their performance. You make not like a teammate or respect their ability, but it's important to learn to...

    Hit by line drive yesterday.

I will say once you've had it happen to you, or see an injury on a teammate, you look at the mask very differently. I agree. What amazes me is how many people see facial/head injuries happen in softball, and still don't support wearing a mask. In addition to protecting a player's facial...

    Ringor's pitching shoes

Do the Tanel molded cleats run true to size? Is there a break in time? I apologize for anyone reading this twice...I posted on another cleat thread also. I just ordered Ringor Diamond Dynasty cleats for my pitching daughter. The fit is OK, but she says they are very stiff and uncomfortable...

    Which pair of cleats?

I just bought the Ringor Diamond Dynasty for my pitcher daughter. Out of the box they seem like great quality. On the advice of the Ringor customer service rep I ordered 1/2 size up. Fit was right. However, my daughter HATES them! She says they are way too stiff. Any advice from Ringor fans...

    Team and Parent rules

Another one to consider for your list is reminding parents to pick their daughter up promptly at the end of practice. Coaches should not have to wait for parents.

    Poll : HS vs TB-A

My daughter, while participating in showcase events and college recruitment events, has been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to talk with several college coaches about her situation. Overall, the reception has been positive from coaches who have seen her play. One thing I have observed...

    Poll : HS vs TB-A

TB-A, although I'm sure there are some benefits to playing both. My daughter chooses not to play HS ball. I don't think that choice negatively affects her.

Life is short. Play ball! It will give the other kids in school a chance to catch up.

    Can 11th grade play JV

This is from the NYC PSAL rules: 10 .3. A student-athlete is eligible for junior varsity competition in grades 9 and 10 up until his/her 17th birthday. A student who turns 17 on or after July 1 may continue to participate during that school year . I do not know if that applies outside of NYC

What would it take to get your daughter on my team?

My daughter carefully studies the roster before a tryout. She always wants to know what position the coaches' daughters play, and where they stack in the batting order. Then, at the tryout, she can observe the players' skills relative to their position on the team. She researches how long each...
