DD has had girls punch her hand during high fives after the game in 12u and 14u. Anyone else seen that one?

DD sidelined with a broken leg, opposing coach on his walk to 3B coaches box screams through the fence in DD's face to shut up and quit cheering. 14u

10u: large tournament multi state/age/level event, week long: round robin game (10u c-level) coach is coming unglued that the opposing pitcher is illegal, up and down the sidelines making the pitcher feel worthless. Pitcher is in tears, trying her hardest to keep her foot down, looking at her own coach for reassurances, not sure how to fix it on the spot. They end up pulling pitcher, and a 14u team, who had come over to the stands and watched it all, stood and cheered for the pitcher. They stayed the entire game, cheered their hearts out for these little girls, and when the illegal pitcher came up to bat the stands erupted. At the pin exchange you can guess who that 10u team found first, and cheered for all weekend.

My DD plays 8u this year, haven't seen to many things, had a parent come over to our side and yell and scream til one of the other parents came to get her.

Saw a few coaches yell and scream a little to much, sure they were excited just like the parents but some went a little over board. Not really at particular kids just really get the ball, get the ball stuff like that.

Now the punching of hands has happened two or three times this season. When the coaches of the other team were made aware, they said it didn't happen and did nothing.

Been a good season overall. The wife and me sit way down the out of play line on either side. Probably 20 to 30 feet past all the other parents. We get excited but just want to sit, watch, and have fun. If we complain it is just to the two of us. We have come closer to fighting each other by far than any other person. If it wasn't for my DD wanting one of us to come to the dugout all the time we would sit on the outside of either right or left field fence.

Not sure how you all handle this type of stuff.....some of the stuff i get. Some of this is crossing the line....

"DD sidelined with a broken leg, opposing coach on his walk to 3B coaches box screams through the fence in DD's face to shut up and quit cheering. 14u"

As a coach, or the parent of my DD who witnessed this....that coach might also have a broken leg. There is no doubt i would be tossed from that game. That coach would always remember to think before he spoke to an opposing player after we were done "talking".

Not that this was bad... but 18A State Tournament opposing catcher would scream "YEAH" when the pitcher would throw a strike or the batter would foul it off. After a couple of innings of this, our girls got fed up with it and were determined to shut her up and proceeded to kill the ball. Went on to win 8-3.

My question is, why would you do something to fuel the other team?

Same team that was wiggling the bat did the hand punch this past weekend. I didn't think much of it, but our girls mentioned it.

A couple of years ago when DD was playing Little League Minors, she was just learning to pitch and could throw hard, but was very wild at times. We were tied for first place with our opponent that night (both teams undefeated), and I'm not sure the coaches liked each other much. DD's team was winning by 3 or 4 and DD hit the batter in the helmet. It was a total accident. Like I said, she was just learning how to pitch. Anyway, the dad of the girl that got hit came unglued and threw himself into the fence and was yelling about how it better not happen again or DD was going to have to deal with him. Needless to say, that guy was asked to leave the park or be escorted out by police. I'm not sure how I did it, but I managed to stay calm and quiet, but if he didn't get kicked out of there, I was going to let him know that he would have to go through me first before he was getting close to my 10 year old daughter.....and I'm not a little guy.

Posted the long version in a previous thread, The short version is last year after the metro championship game a parent of the losing team came into my DDDs dugout right after the game swinging an umbrella calling out my DDs number.(DD was the winning pitcher)About 8 of the opposing teams men were converging on our side of the diamond. Trophys had to be presented in center field. Police were called, my DD and DW had to be escorted thru screaming parents to the car by police. Ironically this will always be one of my DDs favorite softball memories.

I hope those parents were cited for making terroristic threats to a minor or whatever they can be charged with. That kind of stuff should follow them for the rest of their days.

And good on your daughter for remembering that fondly. She played so well, it seemed almost unfair to the whiners :)
