USA Elite Select Announces National Program Launch
“It’s time to give the game back to our athletes.”
In June 2013, the idea was presented to start a National Program for girls’ fastpitch softball that encompassed more than just competition for the elite level player. After an 18 month journey of strategizing and compiling feedback from travel ball coaches, college coaches, athletes and parents, it is time to announce the USA Elite Select National Program that will begin the Fall of 2015. USA Elite Select represents the elite division of USSSA fastpitch and is founded upon three pillars—competition, education and community.
Focusing on competition, USA Elite Select will feature one World Fastpitch Championship (WFC) for the top 64 teams in each age group (12U-18U). The Inaugural WFC will be played in Kansas City July 11-17, 2016. The WFC will encompass everything about USA Elite Select from competitive games that crown the top teams, All American Selection Camp which identifies the top athletes per class, educational seminars and community service projects that develop athletes off the field, and National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) games that bridge our fastpitch community together. By being housed in one location during one week, we are excited to bring the fastpitch community together for a truly memorable experience while featuring the game’s best in front of college coaches! http://usaeliteselect.com/usaes/world-f ... mpionships
Win to get in! Our Regional Qualifying Process is designed to enhance competition and create an exclusive WFC that features the top 64 teams per age group. To earn a berth to the WFC, teams must finish first or second in our Regional Qualifiers. The remaining teams will be selected via at-large berths based on competitive play. Each of our eight Regions will have three Regional Qualifiers. For Fall Qualifiers, the top two performers in each Region for ages 14U-18U will earn $2000 in travel money and a free entry ($1000 value) to the WFC. The 12U qualifying teams in the Fall will earn a free entry to WFC ($1000 value). The first Regional Qualifier kicks off on September 24, 2015 in New Jersey. Where do you rank amongst the players in your Region? Our All American and Futures All American Programs will help answer this question. Competition helps fuel athlete development. Our All American Program is designed to identify the top athletes per age group, showcase individual’s talents to college coaches through our events and video analysis, and select teams to represent the US in international play. USA Elite Select will offer all-expense paid international travel and international competition to our high school aged athletes. These athletes will be evaluated by USSSA Pride players and the USA Elite Select Selection Committee. Selected athletes will have the opportunity to train with USSSA Pride players in preparation for international play. By utilizing our current professionals to work with and develop our future professionals, we can help grow this game and pass on the knowledge from generations of players.
Capitalizing off the excitement and success of our 2015 All American Games, we are excited to return the 2016 Futures All American Games that will feature the top 24 athletes from each Region in the 10-14 year old range. Futures are considered our next generation of great athletes. The 2016 Futures All American Games will be played August 1-6, 2016 in Kissimmee, FL. Tryouts will begin this September. Each region will have at least three tryouts per region. Stay updated with all tryout information on our website http://usaeliteselect.com/usaes/futures-program
While competition and exposing our elite athlete to college coaches is key, it is our responsibility as a National Program and sanctioning body to facilitate the exchange of information by connecting the fastpitch community. Through education, we can grow the sport of fastpitch softball. Whether that education is recruiting, drills and skills videos, testimonials from coaches and professionals, or topics beyond the lines that fully develop our athletes, we will strive to educate athletes, coaches, and parents through every event and program we offer.
As we continue our journey of enhancing elite fastpitch competition and educating the fastpitch community, we will continue to improve our program to service the needs of our sport. Athlete development on and off the field will serve as the forefront of our focus. USA Elite Select aspires to bring our athletes, coaches, parents and entire fastpitch community together to educate, inspire, and empower them to use sport as a vehicle to create positive change.
It takes a team to complete this journey and we are excited to announce our USA Elite Select team starting with the leader of USSSA Fastpitch, Jeremy McDowell. Former Texas A&M and NPF player Jami Lobpries has been named the Vice President of USA Elite Select and will oversee the entire program. Chris Florence, our National Championship Director, offers a wealth of experience hosting elite level tournaments. Our Regional Directors, the voices and faces of our organization in your area, bring an unprecedented package of knowledge, experience, and infectious passion for growing our game and our athletes. Jason Gusaeff, Cheri Naudin, Rick Phillips, Bart Day, Courtney Ceo, Danielle Lawrie, Robb Beheymer, Roger Herrold, and Rob Crews will represent USA Elite Select as Regional Directors. http://usaeliteselect.com/usaes/our-team
Our team is committed to working alongside the elite teams and coaches to understand the needs of our game. To fulfill our mission, it is vital we have the support from the travel ball and college coaches. We value the insights from the coaches we are serving and will continue to reach out to our Travel Ball Council for continued guidance.
The idea of community entails bridging the fastpitch community together from the grassroots, elite, college, professional, and international levels. When McDowell took the role of USSSA Fastpitch VP in 2009, he committed to providing fastpitch families opportunities and growing our grassroots program. In 2009, USSSA continued their commitment towards the growth of fastpitch with the purchase of the USSSA Pride and belief in growing the NPF. Today, we complete the bridge with the launch of USA Elite Select and commitment to elite level fastpitch.
It’s time to give the game back to the athlete and create events that allow these young women opportunities to grow on and off the field. We will continue to educate and continue to seek insights from college coaches, travel ball coaches and our entire fastpitch community so we provide events and resources that meet their needs and continuously grow our sport.
