I believe the chart is comparing the total time from release of the ball to the batter. In reality it more complex with a batter estimating where the ball will end up somewhere between release and the plate. Much harder to estimate something moving at 100 mph vs 74 mph. To take it to an extreme it would be like comparing hitting a 100 mph baseball vs hitting a bullet shot from a mile away. You may have more time to hit the bullet but good luck. Although agree it would still be extremely difficult hitting Abbot.

Look at reaction time.
And espn footnote.

Add in fastpitch pitch trajectory can travel with more pitch locations.
Harder to hit fastpitch as batter has to deal with gravity and the riseball!

The philosophy in men's fastpitch is not to jump up and scream "cheating" like many do here. The thinking is simple, regardless of how it's delivered the ball has to cross the plate: hit it. NOBODY cares about the leaping.

Right or wrong, that's the thinking. Just as nobody cares that pinetar is often put on the ball. Still gotta hit it. :)

No one screams cheating in mens fastpitch because it isn't. If the playing field is level no one cares. When you follow the rules and someone else doesn't it is foolish, like you said to not take every advantage to win, and call cheating.
