I saw where Oregon state was called for two illegal pitches today. It was bottom of the 3rd inning today. Different pitchers both days. How is that possible? They see it in the West coast but not the East coast.

well, they can't fire the fans, can they? as someone suggested in another thread, have a bunch yell "illegal pitch" every time the pitcher does it. sure, ESPN can edit it out, but on a live broadcast, might be difficult.
fans will probably be escorted out of the stadium, but point can be made.

I was watching a replay of the Auburn - Miss St game from Saturday and I literally had turn it off in the first inning. Kaylee Carlson striding at least 4 inches outside the pitching lane on every pitch. It was blatantly obvious especially that early in the game with the lane still clearly lined. Maybe I'm just more sensitive to it after spending so much time on here, but I could not watch it.

Ended up watching a highly competitive (and legally pitched) DII game - Grand Valley State vs Ferris.

OSU has been called for three IPs so far. One IP resulted in a run scoring.

Very frustrating Danielle Lawrie calling a leap a crow hop, good grief.

She also said "That crowhop means both feet need to be touching the ground at all times. One can't be up." Huh?

I'm of the belief that there isn't a ton to be gained by the leap. Not nearly as much as the replant. And that seems to be easier to get away with.

An the umpires are incapable of seeing the same from Barnhill. Amazing! Kudos to the umps for having a pair!!!

I seems that you really have a special axe to grind with Barnhill...
I do find it interesting that she gets all your attention. Silkwood is a more obvious target, I'd say. Much more blatant...

Objectively, Barnhill does a VERY GOOD JOB of maintaining contact with the ground with her back foot/toes.
Or at the very least, makes it VERY HARD to say that she didn't keep contact in real-time.

This pitcher was VERY AIRBORNE. and this is an easy call for the base umpire(s) to make.

I don't think Barnhill will ever realistically get called for a "leap".
I don't disagree that she IS leaping, I'm just saying that she's functionally leaping while giving a very convincing impression of not leaping.
The only prayer of an IP getting called on Barnhill is the replant. And I don't think Umps are going to call it- even in the WCWS.

You all must be parents of something other than a pitcher.

DD starts with the toe of her stride foot, barely touching the pitcher's plate. During her premotion, her weight shifts back and sometimes her back foot loses contact with the pitcher's plate. We are sometimes talking less than an inch of daylight between her foot and the plate, but she will invariably get called for an IP. It is very frustrating to see, what I consider significantly larger infractions such as leaping or crow hopping not getting called. Furthermore to spend hours upon hours working on legal pitching mechanics and to see other's getting away with major rules infractions is maddening.

I do not like the obvious crow hop by either Barnhill or Silkwood, but to be constantly reminded during the games and recaps how Barnhill is the best pitcher in the NCAA and has only given up one earned run during the entire year, all the while knowing she's illegal on every pitch is too much to swallow.

Barnhill is the worst of the worst. Auburn's Carlson is also a cheat who deliberately works outside the rules to gain a competitive advantage. Silkwood is at times blatant but I would question if she is just sloppy with her mechanics or doing so intentionally to gain the upper hand. Illegal is illegal and all pitchers should be doing all they can to stay within the rules. Anyone who deliberately works outside the rules to gain a competitive advantage should raise the ire of anyone who believes in competing with integrity.
