Nemo's Speed Bat And Training Program

Anyone try this program. He is from Oregon and the Portland State University and many high schools in that area all show using it on his web page. This kind of goes against what the school of thought of using a heavy bat , because his whole program is based on light bats and improving bat speed. Plus he has some comments about Ted Williams I thought was interesting. I have never used this product, but I like to research different ideas. "Ted Williams, who many believed was the greatest hitter of all time, stated in 1941 "The key to increased bat speed is a lighter bat with hundreds of repetitions."
Another quote""It means if you are using a heavy bat to warm up in the on-deck circle the, research indicates you are probably doing more harm than good. If you want to increase bat speed, science suggests that you put the lead bat and the doughnut ring away." Dr. Frank Spaniol.

Dr. Spaniol is the former head baseball coach at Morehead State University, Kentucky. The certified strength and conditioning specialist has published numerous articles and specializes in improving sports performance.

I don't know about his program, but I tried to look at his web site and gave up. It just isn't too hard to make a decent website, anymore.

Wow, that site really stinks. Anyway, this is very interesting, because at practice last night I asked one of the parents what drill they were working on. It was the Nemo Speed bat with the weird tee etc... They just started using it last Saturday, so I have no reports on how well it works. I can tell you however, that her batting coach, and a local college coach love it. They are going to offer the team a discount on bats for the girls to use at the house. They want the girls to do at least 200 swings a week out of practice, and said this is lighter and a little easier than swinging a heavy bat all of the time.

I have seen him a couple of times at a college camp here locally. I havent actually ever used his program (other than the things my DD did in the camp) , but I know several others who have and they all say they have seen really good results from using his stuff consistently.

All over
As a player who based her swing on bat speed, my father Marty Tyson (Corona ANgels Founder) used Nemos Speed Stick with me and I LOVE IT :) Just my thoughts...

I like the Zip Net product or idea.

I don't believe I care much for the idea of every player swinging a light bat; or a heavy bat for that matter. One size doesn't necessarily fit all.

I know two D1 teams that are requiring a minimum weight bat this year in games. One minimum is 25 oz. Not sure of the other team but I believe it's heavier. At least one team will swing Xeno for sure; I believe the other will also.
