That is ridiculous. Think of being the batter and getting set for the pitch then all of a sudden you hear someone scream "curve" or "rise". If anything, this has to be distracting. The only voice that should be in the batter's head is her own.
And on top of that, it is only a guess on the coach's part as unless the coach's vision is good enough to calibrate the Hubble telescope, there is nothing to be seen that is going to dictate what pitch is coming.
And if the coach wants to play mind games, show'em the damn grip. Then strike out the batter.
I lean towards your way of thinkin MTR - but did you see the Mizzou coach doing it with all that intensity..???? I am pretty sure he thinks it can be part of the game for him & his team.
I might guess he is only doing this with his cagey upper-classmen,... but only those that were there on the first base line could tell us.
Anyone there at that Mizzou game that could elaborate on this pitch-stealing?
