I think we should all find ways to improve the participation of girls in sports, beyond our own little specialists, so that MS and HS sports get better as a whole.

Can't just whine about the coaches, etc. What is happening in society that girls are not getting involved in sports or even playing outside? Even boys are starting to not participate.
I agree.

Here, in one league we have 80 players in U12 rec. One of those players might continue to play travel ball. The rest will likely not pick up a glove again after this year.

Man I guess some of us just don't understand how much y'all go through up north to get a field ready with the weather. Down south the most we have to do is fly in a helicopter to hover over the fields to dry them out.

that's funny....we were just talking about how tough it would be to have to live in a small town in TN or AL....and "down south" weather forecasts calls for 40 degrees with freeze warnings....which isn't exactly Cali weather....(jk)

Hope your DD is feeling better and back to normal....

Not sure about the rest of TN, but we have the craziest weather. Last week ( night game ) I'm watching in shorts and tee shirt, next night
I'm watching in insulated pants / jacket / ear covers, next night it snows, next day it is 55 and rains all day, yesterday we had wind gusts above 50 mph ( blew all our patio chairs off the pool slab and turned over my gas grill ), today is calm and sunny.

Last year, no lie, I pull into the parking lot and it's raining so hard I can't see the field ( about 100 yards away ). Assuming the game has been cancelled I call my dad to tell him, he's already down on the field and said its not raining a drop. Sure enough, I get out walk down ( soaked to the bone ) and not a SINGLE DROP had fallen down there. Weirdest thing I've ever seen.

DD is doing better, thanks for asking.

I'm glad DD is involved in sports. Something that really surprises me is that her school only has PE classes every other day. There's all this talk about keeping kids active, but the only exercise time many of these kids get has been cut in half. Back in the dark ages when I was in school, PE was every darned day and was mandatory up through 10th grade.

LOL....that would be pretty weird and been on both sides of the rain dividing line my self a few times....but that certainly is a crazy wild weather story.....hopefully you all will miss that 30% chance of snow they are calling for in western TN tonight....it's crazy here in Kansa City too....it was over 80 degrees here on 3-15-13 and it snowed 6" yesterday, for the third time this year and everytime in March....WTH?....and it hasn't snowed here in 3 years I think....but it's totally depressing with the TB season ready to start this coming weekend, it suppose to be 60 degrees, but I think it may still be pretty wet on the fields....we might need one of those "Tenneessee Helicopter" rides for sure....our TB HC just called me and I had to talk him off the ledge he's so bummed out due to weather....

Glad to hear about your DD....she looks like a tough competitor and I'm sure it didn't slow her down a bit....
