Watched my girl hit some bombs this weekend and saw her miss putting one over by just a bit. We're moving up to 12U next season, and am wondering how much time it takes to start getting the same distances out of the bigger ball? We did some hitting with a bucket of 12's this season and they never flew quite as far.....

That was the biggest change for my DD, took her over a year to hit the ball the same distance as she used to.

I would think a lot depends on your DD growing and the pitching speed. Remember the pitchers are dropping back 5 feet to so don’t count on the pitcher helping your DD hit farther.

The good news is that it's easier to hit from 40 feet. My daughter's batting average went up. Her power numbers stayed the same because she didn't have any power numbers in 10U. :)

I had read on here before that for most girls the 13-14 yr old is when the bombs really start coming. In my area that has held true. DD at 13 has hit some out in pratice for the first time as some of the others at 13 and 14 with some of the 14's coming in games also. Mind you not all of them but I have seen the distance increase with most.

The only player DD pitched to that I thought could hit it out she struck out the 2 times she faced her. The game changes moving up an age division.

The 12" ball versus 11" ball makes a difference. Expect it to take some time for her to get back to the distances she could hit with an 11"

I saw a few out of our team in 12U, but in 14U it seems to be a common occurrence, happens at least once in every tournament. (not my kid, just someone does)
