Hitting the ball hard is the measurement the batter should take with them!

gotta couple it with launch angle too, but that tech certainly isn't at most softball fields. So you're left with approximating it with the stats you have.

You can probably guestimate with XBH and BABIP, because those things are somewhat corelated with hitting it hard and slightly elevated. Hitting it hard just above fielders heads is the fastest trajectory to grass and a base hit. But that requires a somewhat uniform Hit/Error schema.

in that one singular moment. Practically meaningless. What if it was me pitching up there? That's not particularly insightful then.

The person who actually scores the run gets credit. Same goes for everything else that can happen on the bases (stolen base, caught stealing, etc).

It's not true to say they "technically never enter the game." A courtesy runner is officially in the game as a courtesy runner. She gets credited with a game played at that moment. She is now restricted to only running for that position. She's not a ghost. It just is not an official substitution.

I think it depends, if you are batting the lineup. #3 batter courtesy’s for #5. The number 3 is still in the lineup in the #3 spot. I do mot think they are listed in both the #3 and #5 spot.

As a batter= the player who hit the ball
Doesn't need to rely on what somebody else's opinion might be especially when it can be wrong.

Batting stats have no useful purpose to anyone beyond the coaching staff. They do show how hitters stack up within a team but beyond internal use within the team they are useless at most levels of the game. Comparing the stats of different players on different teams is comparing apples to oranges. Unless all the players are facing the exact same pitchers, the numbers are meaningless. Outside the major leagues, you will find huge differences in how different scorekeepers keep score. College coaches take no stock in high school or travel ball stats what so ever! They see all they need to see simply by physically watching the athlete hit in camps or competition. The worst thing parents can do is dwell on batting average!!
