This past year was interesting in regards to DD pitching.

She was slightly the best pitcher, 2 others were close.

Pitching issue was Team did better with her in field then her pitching.

Fielding has always been her best softball ability and team was better with her in field then pitching now that batters hit the ball. When she was younger and why she got sucked into P was a lot of balls got hit to pitcher.

I think she needs to make a choose.

Put some distance between her and #2 or give up pitching.

Agree with Bob...you gotta find out how much she enjoys pitching as opposed to playing another position.

Pitching is a different game than everyone else is playing. Some kids like it, some kids love it, and some kids hate it.

Keep in mind that pitchers spend a lot of time in the dugout watching. Oklahoma's Paige Lowrey, one of the best pitchers in the NCAA, pitched 41 games...meaning she sat and watched 29 games. Her counterparts in the field played in 60+ games out of 70. Clifton and Knighten played in 67 of the 70 games.

My DD#1 loved pitching. She accepted sitting the bench for 40% of the games (and she was the big dog pitcher). My DD#3 was, "What? You want me to sit here and watch the 1B do an impression of an open door? No thanks..."

My DD is a pitcher who's also a good fielder. I think on some teams she's lost innings in the circle because they needed her more on defense. How does your dd feel about it? My dd likes to pitch a game or two but she also loves playing SS or 3B. I don't feel the need to make her choose. She will have to eventually if she plays high level ball but for now I don't see why she can't do both. Mine is only first year 12U, so that factors in.

DD is #1 pitcher on her TB team going into the 2017-2018 season. She's also the team's lead-off batter and starting middle infielder. She rarely sits in TB.

DD will also be starting HS ball this coming spring. She did not play HS ball last season even though she was a Freshman. Based on the team that the HS fielded last year, my guess is that she'll be the 3rd or 4th best pitcher that tries out next year. With that being the case there is little chance she can make varsity on her pitching alone BUT I think that she has a reasonable chance of making the varsity team as a middle infielder/ utility player.

My daughter has always been focused on being a softball player first and a pitcher second. We work hard on both but if you can field and hit you're going to be in the line-up. If you told my daughter she had to sit every other game between pitching starts she would blow a gasket.
