DD played SB from 1st grade to 8th and yesterday was her last game, probably ever. A few weeks ago she decided to quit softball at the end of the summer season. I know the TB life was getting hard on her as she was missing out on a lot of the fun a 14 y/o should be having. I think the final nail...
DD asked if we could just drop her off for practice instead of staying and watching. I suppose it's not a bad idea to let her be on her own without mom and dad watching to see how she's doing. How many of you drop off DD or stay to watch? What are your feelings on either side?
Need a couple more players. Team is based in Town of Hempstead. We're signed up for Spring league with NJBL and have Sunday games until June. Great bunch of girls that get along very well. High C/low B level. Perfect for girls looking to make transition from little league to travel. No travel...
One of the teams we were supposed to face this Sunday has dropped out of our league so we have a field and no team to play. The field is ours from 9am-1:30pm. Looking for a double header scrimmage. PM for more info.
Do you want it?
When I was a kid, I played a lot of little league baseball. I wasn't very good back then, but I could have been if I had wanted it. The coach would put me in right field (when I wasn't keeping the bench warm) with the hopes that nothing would get hit towards me. When they did...
I'll try to keep it short, although I'm sure some of you have been through what we are going through and might offer some advice or experience. We're hoping to take action on this before we're stuck in the middle of the spring league with this coach.
Local TB organization held tryouts for one...
I would be interested to hear where people stand on scoring or not scoring during a scrimmage. A buddy of mine who coaches does not score because he feels it's more about learning. And my DD's travel coach does score because she feels it gives the girls incentive to play harder and makes them...
Ugh...I've been browsing Amazon ad-nauseum for a decent seat that can attach to the bleachers. A lot of them look nice but every one seems to have its drawbacks. Does anyone here have a suggestion for a good quality, sturdy stadium seat? I don't mind paying a little extra for quality. My wife...
Simply stated. I'm suffering from sticker shock right now and I was curious to know what others are paying. I will assume all players get 2 uniforms, a batting helmet and equipment bag, all personalized with player name, number and team logo. Thanks!
So DD's new TB coach has invited the team to her weekly run here on Long Island in Eisenhower Park to help build their endurance and get them a little more fit. The run is 2-3 miles. DW came home with a pair of Saucony Cohesion 6 for DD so I checked the Amazon reviews and they were mostly...
We are studying the NECC DVD and we both love it. I won't preach to the choir, you know how good it is. The thing is, we've been doing some work with Austin from AB and DD's throws have gotten insanely better and with more velocity. We specifically do the "sitting hand behind" drill, the...
DD is learning catching and we're working from the NECC DVD one section at a time putting emphasis on getting each section "down" before moving forward too fast (we're still on the first section). The thing is, she just made a travel ball team for the first time ever and when the HC heard she...
Just ordered this from Amazon:
"Easton Womens Extra Protective Sliding Short"
Amazon.com: Easton Womens Extra Protective Sliding Short, White, Large: Clothing
Some of the reviews state that their daughters love them for catching because it give extra protection than regular sliders for foul...
Was told by the local sports shack that many girls use 1B mitts when they play catcher as well. Is this true? If not, at what point do we go with a mitt like Vinci? DD is just starting out, is studying the NECC DVD, and is catching on (get it?) really fast. Wants to get a good foundation...
My 13 y/o DD has been told she should take pitching lessons. She's big for her age and has a powerful arm. I don't know the first thing about teaching pitching. Where do we begin? How long until a new pitcher is game ready? DD already practices on average 2 hrs a day hitting, throwing and...
DD has expressed interest in catching. She currently plays 1B but wants to be more valuable to prospective teams and I support her thinking. She tried on a friend's gear today and I threw her some pitches. She seemed to really like it. I told her to catch a pitcher that can hit 50 and see if she...
Wasn't sure where to post this, and I'm sorry if I'm violating any rules, but everyone needs to see this. Some of you probably already have.
It's a real organization (I know, because I'm a member) and they're doing some really great things--funny, quirky, even stupid things that serve no...
Looking get my DD some live BP. I'm not a good pitcher and the local cage throws the same 50mph pitch with consistent location so it's easy to dial in. She's working on adjusting her timing to different pitches so I think this is the best way to do so.
Incentive--whatever you decide. I feel a...
