Line it up! ...for the last time.

Your point is very valid and is not a nag. Dedicating to a life of SB can be very rewarding and fulfilling for a kid, but it is not for every kid. When it stops being fun for someone they need to step back and re-evaluate why they're putting so much time into it. Sometimes, the enthusiasm for...

Line it up! ...for the last time.

Thanks, Amy. I've always enjoyed reading your posts and gained a lot of insight from them. I think what I'm going to miss the most is the time spent with my daughter. Watching her go from being one of the weaker players on the team to being one of the stronger ones, shopping for bats and mitts...

Line it up! ...for the last time.

DD played SB from 1st grade to 8th and yesterday was her last game, probably ever. A few weeks ago she decided to quit softball at the end of the summer season. I know the TB life was getting hard on her as she was missing out on a lot of the fun a 14 y/o should be having. I think the final nail...

Do you stay for DD's TB practice?

    How old is your DD?

Do you stay for DD's TB practice?

That's it. You're gonna have to leave this site so I can talk about you behind your back! ;) Just kiddin'...Tucc is a class act and has a good rapport with the girls.

Do you stay for DD's TB practice?

I know that comment was tongue in cheek but you are correct. Self evaluation is important when determining what's best for DD and I've screwed up more times than I care to admit but I would bet many parents have also. I've coached her through LL and have spent hundreds of hours in the backyard...

Do you stay for DD's TB practice?

I should just clarify that when we are watching DD at practice it is with enjoyment rather than anything judgmental. How DD is taking it is out of our control but we just want to do the right thing for her. That may not be in line with what is right for other parents' DDs.

Do you stay for DD's TB practice?

My DD is 14 but is playing with a 16U team so there's more pressure on her now. I think me and the DW make her nervous because if she makes a mistake during practice she always looks over to see if we were watching (we are). And tonight during her lesson she asked me to move so I could not see...

Do you stay for DD's TB practice?

DD asked if we could just drop her off for practice instead of staying and watching. I suppose it's not a bad idea to let her be on her own without mom and dad watching to see how she's doing. How many of you drop off DD or stay to watch? What are your feelings on either side?

You Know Your Daughter Plays Fastpitch if . . .

You still have grass in your backyard?? You're doing it WRONG! :)

Ill-equipped, 22 y/o, unmotivated TB HC in WAYYY over her head...when/if to step in?

DD quit the team today. It hurt to watch her say goodbye to her teammates and it was hard for DW and I to say goodbye to the parents. Oh well, nothing worthwhile is easy. We look forward to the new team and to see how a real TB team should be run. Thanks again for all who gave sane advice and input.

You Know Your Daughter Plays Fastpitch if . . .

...you bring ice packs and bandages because your HC doesn't have a first aid kit. God how I wish I was just joking.

    As the sun sets

I had a lump in my throat reading your post...then I got to your pics. That's when the tears welled up. You should be proud that you were there for her every step of the way. I don't really know you but when one of our DDs leaves the game we all feel it. Good luck to her continued success. Life...

Ill-equipped, 22 y/o, unmotivated TB HC in WAYYY over her head...when/if to step in?

I agree, Monk. The team we may move to is a pretty big organization and is well established with people who have experience at all levels. The reason we didn't move sooner is mostly because DD and her teammates got along so great. Unfortunately the bad has outweighed the good lately. DD, the...

Ill-equipped, 22 y/o, unmotivated TB HC in WAYYY over her head...when/if to step in?

Well, here's another update. I was able to get us into a last minute tournament so Saturday was salvaged. We had four games that day and we faced some amazing competition. Then we won both games of our league play yesterday, which is nice. Most likely DD will be leaving this team this weekend...

Are you seriously this out of touch with what I've been saying? Or have I touched a nerve?

Ill-equipped, 22 y/o, unmotivated TB HC in WAYYY over her head...when/if to step in?

Well said, rise. DD wants to stay with this team for now but I have a feeling she'll be looking to leave after the summer and join another team. To out in LF, I hear what you're saying, and I agree, to a point. I'm all for having someone learn but this is travel and there are certain things...

Ill-equipped, 22 y/o, unmotivated TB HC in WAYYY over her head...when/if to step in?

She insists on doing the paperwork so there's nothing I can do about that. And when I said I handle the scheduling, I should really have said that I suggest tournament dates to the HC based on players' availability. She still has final say. I should have been clearer on that.
