We've tried fruit, granola bars, nuts, "healthy stuff", but it just doesn't sell. A couple dozen doughnuts from the bakery sell well in the mornings.
Giant pickles are easy, profitable, and a huge hit with kids. They sell out fast.

"The healthy stuff" you just have to figure out the magic formula. At one local complex, they do well with a baggie of carrots and celery (with a side of ranch ... oh well) as well as sliced apples and grapes. It is the same as popcorn ... if you do it right, you might throw away 70% of it, but you still turn a hefty profit.

As for pickles ... I think I have told this story on here before. Back in my rec league days we did well with pickles, but then reached the point we were actually throwing pickles away just to get pickle juice. Pickle-cicles were where the money was at.

Thanks for the tips! You mean like a home popsicle making kit and using pickle juice?
Icees (Giant Otter Pops, not the cheap ones) are also a hit.

Walking Taco/Taco in a bag is good. My wife makes a great sweet chili and I'd like to see that as Chili in a bag using a bag of Fritos and cheese. That might be better as a winter thing, though.
Dang, now I'm hungry.

Chick-fil-A sandwiches are brought in at a couple parks I go to. Of course they would be sinful on a Sunday. PBJ might be profitable. Shrimp rolls. Egg rolls. Pancakes. Ahhhh … turkey legs!!

Someone mentioned beer. I don’t recommend that! Some can’t control their emotions even when sober!

You will all find it hard to believe but somehow the heath department got involved in the random volunteer stand and they were all shutdown.

Oh no, cheaper and easier than that! Use the little 2oz. cups that places use for nacho cheese or condiments. Fill it with a bit of pickle juice, slap a lid on it, and freeze it. We sold them for 25 cents and made more off of those than we did the pickles (which were already a high profit-margin item).

I was calling around to distributors trying to get JUST pickle juice, no pickles. None of them had it. About two months ago I was at GFS and they had 5 gallon buckets of pickle juice. Just 10-15 years too late.

Bah ... the health department won't come out after hours or on weekends (at least around here). We told them there is nobody there during the day during the week (and we don't get paid to be there), so they would have to come inspect at night or on the weekend. They never did.
