Got it!
Grocery store award points.
Just like the NCAA, right? Strength of Schedule. RPI.

You gotta keep score somehow over a longer period of time. What is YOUR solution? Yes, you can win a one off tourney at a qualifier for PGF to get your berth. Who played in it, did everyone have the best players, etc.? How does a small program team make it when the TD's relegate them to the back fields in many of these tourneys? How do you break into the local Softball Illuminati network? The coaches complain that they never get a chance to play the better teams. Okay, here's a format that will enable you to earn your spot at the table.

Is it perfect? By all means no. Is their software good? I'm sure it's gotten better. I have watched a lot of games with it. It's pretty cool. Just like GC, it's improved as well. Some ppl like iScore better. Let's face it. These people are trying to build a better mousetrap by using Data. PGF's online brackets were a joke. However, they put on a nice Nationals (in the past) with nice broadcasting. Alliance did an even better job with the All star event.

I have no horse in this race anymore. These are my thoughts as a 3rd party consumer.

Like you said, if you don't like what your org is making you do, go find another org (and I agree that forcing you to play events that will cost a lot more money is shady..). Bitching about it on here won't do a damn thing.

"PGF's online brackets were a joke. "
This ^^^^^ is true. Unprintable Excel spread sheets. Come on PGF hire a real web guru. Alliances website is also very weak.

Movements need to start somewhere! If enough (12u this year) parents/coaches stand up to their Orgs. Head and say NO! We cant afford to go to Oklahoma. We don't want to go to Oklahoma. We are not going to Oklahoma. Maybe they will hear their voices and let them do what is best for their team. Well, that's NOT going to happen. But maybe if teams start to leave the Org. and join an Org. that allows the team to have the FREEDOM to choose what they feel is best for their team and if they start to lose money then they might rethink their plan.

However, within the first year they started mandating all teams use AGL to score official games. To receive “points”, it was required.
Not true. We never used AGL after the first few attempts in year 1 and we got invites to the Tier 1 championship both years.

Many teams are also saying. We don't want to spend $6K to go to Cali, we won't go to Cali, we can't afford Cali. You already have a choice in what team your DD joins. Do your homework. I knew darn well what events my DD's play every year before we joined. And it was expected that we travel to those tourneys.

Years ago, I spoke to a dad who's kid is a very prominent pitcher in the Big 12. They just got back from 14U PGF and he said that he would never go back. It was a complete joke and was entirely way to expensive. Let's face it, Cali teams have an advantage. They sleep in their own beds and can stack a team with 27 players in the dugout. I like the idea of moving the location every year but only to places that make sense. Not Midland, Tx or Normal, IL.

Like that there are different opportunities. Do not think there is one solution because everybody likes to do different things for different reasons.

In college saw so much disparity in Talent levels within conferences I'll just throw my hands up to that 🤷‍♀️and RPI

In all fairness I did not deliberately spend any time trying to find out about Alliance. Don't really know what type of game-playing quotas they have built within their system. Simply appears from the outside the more you play, the more points you can get, hurray hurray let's try and be in the top 16.
