This is why change ups are so effective. I teach my daughters to ignore all of the pitching "gurus" and throw a change that mimicks their fastballs spin and arm speed perfectly. It's about as unhittable as I've ever seen. MLB preaches, but fastpitch coaches think they have a better approach

I have no idea how the flip CO works. It is so obvious but it works. I am talking 12u or 14u.

What I really want to know is who likes the hand/barrel action out front, or who/what do you like about the swings.
I do Shawn, always have.. even when I played the game most of my HR's and damage was done out front. With that being said it's not something focused on a lot

Curious what everyone thinks of these two swings. These are the first clips I have of Lewis for the Mariners. First one was middle/in pulled for a HR and the second was outside hit over the RC gap fence.

Do you like how he makes contact out front? Is this what throwing the barrel looks like?

Nice post Shawn. Pay attention to the front knee all.

I think he is a little early on both swings but he has great eye-hand and gets in done. Pitchers are going to adjust and throw him high and tight and try to jam him up. He will strike out a lot. This guy could be around for some time. ROY??? 18 HRs?
High and tight? if he's out front I am throwing him low and away, and off speed. Thoughts?

Are these swings the perfect example of “short to long”?

Workwins

He is hitting a fastball on the inside pitch and a breaking ball on the outside pitch. I will get the speeds.

Quality reps are hard to come by. That's another story

You have the ability to subconsciously see the spin and location upon release from a pitcher, your brain will calculate to the best of it's ability, and put that bat where it thinks it will be. It's not easy. You do not have the time or ability to judge and make a correction. It's all instinct and reps. You've seen this before so I'm going to do this. I've had people challenge this theory and everyone loses.
I agree. Muscle memory and best guess where the ball should be when it’s time to swing. Kind of becomes 2nd nature with good consistent training.
