So Cal
And, just like that, the wheels fell off the bus.

The last 2 weekends of games have resulted in a 1-for-9 slump, with 3 Ks. Maddie's timing is off, and her mechanics are starting to unravel a bit. We are seeing a return to her torso staying ahead of her rear hip (not getting extension of the hip joint), and her hands pushing. It seems like this devil comes around about once a year with her, and it takes a while to sort things out again. She had a session with Mike on Tuesday, and he pointed out that she was shorting her coil. Team BP last night had moments where things were better, but it wasn't at all her usual consistency. We will be at the park again tonight. More games tomorrow...

Maybe she's also a little too anxious to get to the ball(symptom of somebody who has been hitting well) instead of letting it travel.. you see this a lot with MLB hitters who way out front on something off speed

Easy to jump the gun when you've been hitting bomb after bomb :)

Valid point. Timing is the single most important factor in hitting. She's been down this road many times, and we hoping to get things back on track quickly.

This is the part of the game we need to learn to love. It is what makes us work to get back to the 8-for-9 streaks :devilish: .

Eric, Maddie has it going on. The linedrive for an out on the one video was well struck. IMO, it looks to me like she was either facing a pitcher that had a good change or she simply was facing a pitcher that could not bring the heat. Both will get you as a hitter when the hitter has been practicing for elite pitching. Those wheels haven't fallen off. The tires just need some air. I really enjoy this thread and want to take the time to thank you for it.

That was her only decently-hit ball all day, and it really wasn't all that good (off the end of the bat). The pitching was okay, but not great. The pattern in the last video has been prevalent for the last couple of weeks in games. She's kind of falling to her front side, rather than controlling the forward move with her rear leg.

Thanks for your kind words. Following the end of BB's softball career was very enjoyable, as well, and I appreciate how much you shared of her journey.

If her pattern is fine in BP I wouldn't worry about it too much..MLB'ers typically get 50 ABs or so in ST to iron out their timing..how many has she had against live pitching......?

Her pattern was a bit all over the place in last night's BP session. Some were good. Many were not.
