One of the things I like most is that her comfortable "easy" swing that hits BP bombs is starting to really show up in games, with the same kind of result.
Earlier start was a struggle to adjust to different pitch speeds but now her early start is matched by her move out being slow and controlled with a pullback that keeps her on top of the rear hip to launch from. A more controlled move allowing her to adjust to the ball getting in to her zone to strike IMO.

Consistency can mean different things for hitters in their development. For my students it will be different then what Maddie is doing. Although, It will be hitting the ball well like Maddie, just not 250 ft.

Very nice!! Glad she is having some success and hopefully enjoying herself in the process (kind of hard not to when you hit .692  )

She’s pretty excited with how things are going at the moment, especially after having a mediocre HS season. The payoff for her dedication and hard work is real.

To top off the weekend, we found out that her team will be playing at 18U PGF Nationals! 😀

Maddie had a few hits at PGF 18U Platinum Nationals this week...

The last one hit the fence for a double - just barely short of a GS - against the toughest opponent they faced in the tournament, scoring the only runs of the game for her team.

PGF was a bi-polar event for Maddie. She definitely had her struggles (6 Ks), and only had 4 hits in 7 games. However, those 4 hits are the ones above - 3 HR and an almost-GS. She also had 2 sac flies, 3 BBs, and 11 of her team's 22 RBI.

Maddie's team went 2-2 in pool play, and 1-2 in bracket games. It's a mediocre performance, until you consider that Maddie's team has 13 of 17 players still 16U age-eligible, playing against many teams full of players who will be with their college teams next month. Honestly, we were surprised to get an invite berth to PGF at all. Considering where we are in the development of this team, we are not at all disappointed in the results. The best games were a shut out win against the top team in our pool, and a 7th inning come-from-behind win in bracket play.

This officially wraps up the summer season for Maddie's team, and they will be off for the next month. Maddie has been grinding through pain in her left knee for many weeks, and previous issues with a rotator cuff strain flared up again over the past week. Her body badly needs to shut down for a while.
