They power the ‘turn’ .. the rest of the body helps swing the bat too. The legs and hips mainly. If the legs don’t stabilize it’s just a puff of power or a merry go round. No direction. Imo it’s hit against the front and back leg as well as the hips. Try throwing a med ball without rotating from a batting stance underhand as far as you can. If spinning, close off a bit and try again.
you mentioned Yeager this morning... remember the bucket drill he did? Mimic that without rotating. Thats the feel for me.
One of us have for sure. Whether it's you-me....or me-you...or both of us of each other....somewhere the wires have definitely been crossed. No big deal either way...I think we've beat that dead horse enough already. But I may have misunderstood.

I have been involved in these forums for nearly 7 years. And every time the subject of the core pattern came up, the impression I always got is that the obliques are the power source for the swing. I always have considered the abdominal muscles very important in the entire process, but the power itself comes from larger muscles. In fact, in a series of PMs I had 5 or 6 years ago, I brought up an example from my days in college. I'm a Penn State grad and spent time lifting weights with several members of the wrestling team. While training with them, they pointed out a few things to me concerning breathing and abdominal use during certain actions including the bench press. By adding their techniques, I was able to add 10 to 15 pounds to my max in a short period of time. It was my pecs and other muscles that lifted the weight, but the core function helped facilitate it.
What are the larger muscles and how do they power the swing ?
How do the obliques power the swing? Do you consider the obliques to be more powerful than the lats and other back muscles? What about the glutes and other upper leg muscles?
