Lol! So predictable.
Or you could step in the box and attempt to match. Someone needs to tell Nelson to quit swinging down to.. Crazy none of these balls went directly into the ground.

It has nothing to do with ending his career....Yea, it would have ended Jd's career as well had he continued to ignore getting into fyb leveraged position.. Bobby was all back all forward back in the day.. Getting fyb is what allows for hitters to buy time and create depth in the swing...

core usage = pelvic usage = pelvic tilt = ‘up through’

pelvic tilt creates proper hip extension.. Cause and effect. The pelvis turns up and the hips extend.

Yes. Hip extension is what does this. Been trying to explain this for a while.

This is from the function section:

"Its most powerful action is to cause the body to regain the erect position after stooping, by drawing the pelvis backward, being assisted in this action by the biceps femoris (long head), semitendinosus, semimembranosus, and adductor magnus"

The muscles at the end there are also known as the hamstrings.

To add to that. I will say that FOCUSING on the obliques and bat path is very very important(feel). The bat cannot be behind(the hips extending) or else your leaking power.

I can see why you(and others) have probly had a lot of success focusing on obliques. If you have a good athlete the hips are going to do their thing if you get the bat there.

However, what you describe is not the way works.

that’s great. but if the core doesn’t pull the pelvis up, hip extension is useless. And since hip extension is reactive to the pelvis pulling, why bother speaking of it? Like I said... to get somewhere, let’s talk about the directions/techniques, not your favorite landmark on the way to the destination.

hopefully you will learn through coaching that you don’t try to coach things that just happen. That’s a quick way to screw up someone pretty quick aka TTB.

Take a look at the JD clip above again. He has plenty of ‘hip extension’. Wasn’t a very good hitter then was he?

the obliques don’t pull the pelvis up?
