The reason guys preach top of the ball is due to 98% (maybe more) swing and misses are under the ball and that's not because they are trying to swing up through the ball.

Practicing less than game speed velocity promotes getting under the ball because the ball doesn't fall as much at speed. So an adjustment is to aim higher. I haven't seen elite swings where they're staying on top of the ball. They just keep their hands higher above the ball and then the bat swings under the hands into the ball path.
The problem is that if you're teaching someone who doesn't have a high level swing, they may actually hit down on the ball.
Even the high level guys aren't capable of changing their swing over the course of months much less during an at bat. But they can change what they aim at.
The understanding that in an elite swing, the barrel swings under the hands is critical to teaching that swing.
And there are millions of videos and pictures that prove it, and just as many explanations that don't add up the the visual evidence.

Correct but there not thinking or trying to aim higher during the up part of the swing.. The example is swinging down to the intended path and then trying to stay on that plane.

Below is a masterpiece created by me, :). Apologize for those who are color blind. The blue represents the batters body, the red the arms, and black the bat. What is the ideal alignment at contact?

Big deal he doesn't like front toss.. anybody on this thread say that you needed to practice front toss to be successful? Nope.

What he said was "he doesn't try to hit line drives at second anymore in the GAME". He rolled over on the outside pitch, that's why it was an awful swing, the next swing he corrected it by staying inside and through the ball... it did zero him in. That's why they practice what they practice Bobby. You've gone down a Rabbit hole Bobby.. it was a good video you posted, well it sure helped illustrate the things I have been talking about.

Julray, you cherry picked, Julray. Julray, my point Julray, was wasting time doing things, Julie, that aren't constructive, Julray.
And Julray, if the practice honed the skill, Julray, then the ensuing swings wouldn't require adjustments, Julie.
And Julray, you've said over and over that hitting it UTM and hitting down is the way, Julray.
I say you're close minded, Julray, and you don't completely understand, Julie.
If you did, Julie, you could explain the difference between what they say and what they do.
But you can't, Julray.

The rotational path of the bat around the hands dictates that the bat will swing under the hands so staying "on plane" necessitates that understanding. Alyssa gets it.

No Bobby, I didn't say that. I said that the pros PRACTICE going UTM and oppo. This helps them stay inside the ball and through the ball. In a game the pros are going to hit the ball where the ball is pitched.. OBVIOUSLY. I also did not say HITTING down, that would imply hitting the ball into the ground.

What they say and what they do is the same thing... you just need to implement what they are demoing into the entire swing process to understand.

Go back and look at the Cruz video I posted, listen to how Mancinni explains down to. There's no smoke and mirrors here, this is what they do.

Whose Julie?

I disagree. Teach whatever you want to and when you've succeeded, post a video of your work.

Again why do I need to? We have the best hitters in the game going into detail, breaking their swing down so we can all understand. Explaining what they work on in detail, what they practice on etc etc etc. Your not disagreeing with me, you are disagreeing with them and there's already 100's of videos posted, and they have the accolades to back them up. They have succeeded more than you or I ever will. If they can't convince you, what hope do I have.... 0

Whose Julie? :)

Do you think these hitters are attempting the same hand/arm actions (other then hit a moving ball )?
