I agree but, on this swing your DD does not 'dump' the barrel(barrel dropping below the ball).

Ok, but you do agree she gets it too flat maybe not below the ball but still too flat. I wasn't aware in order to call it dumping you
needed to have it below ball.

2nd Question, any good drills for emphasizing resisting rotating the upper body as the back hip starts to rotate? I mean I can explain it to my daughter in theory.. but we need something practical to drive it home

Thanks

The continuous pinch drill can be used..using it with my daughter atm..can't say it is translating to her thrown ball swing but we have only been doing it for a month or so.

Not to flat for that pitched ball but, it's that your DD flattens the barrel/bat then swings. Your DD lowered the bat down level to the ball then swings. The swing isn't 2 moves to get on plain with the ball. Then that's why your DD has nothing going into the ball but, a push type swing.

Agreed, it is when she gets it flat that is (one of) the problems at the moment. I am certainly not under the illusion that she can hit right now..she has developed some
nasty habits which I or somebody else needs to fix.

I have a question about scap load... when does it occur? Do you load your scap as the back hip starts to rotate to aid in upper body resistance... or would that create too much upper body resistance and a disjointed swing?

Never. Scap isn't loaded.

None. Hips don't rotate in a good swing.

Thanks M8, I've seen that one and plan to add it to our training. I think you know what I mean when I say it's hard enforce this in a swing.. I have trouble with it myself. I think it was EricF who said he stands behind his daughter and holds her should so she can get the feel of resistance between upper and lower

To be fair the hips are rotating, they are being rotated by the rear leg.

To people not in the know, the hips should not be rotating independently on top of the rear leg. Instead a coil is developed between the rear leg and hip. That coil is maintained throughout the swing... Therefore no uncoil / ER of the rear leg / hip rotation over the leg.

Thanks, but all this is just complicating the question I had. RDBass knows exactly what I am asking, he's just muddling the waters, convoluting the thread again. I am a little frustrated, I'm obviously not a superstar like he is. I'm just looking for help so I can help my daughter.

I'm sorry you don't like the answer to your question. I also knew your panties would get all twisted with my answer. I'm also sorry that you're to lazy to read through the threads.
I'll say it again the SCAP isn't loaded. If something gets loaded then it must get unloaded. A good hitter will clamp, pinch, keep pulling back...the scap.
Sigh.... do you have to be so facetious?
And it was a serious answer even though you don't understand the answer. Not my fault.
And keep calling me names....mate.

Fixed it for you but, I know what you meant.
