To those out there who have been through the process - What are some good planning thoughts for preparing for a memorable signing day for your DD??

My guesses and thoughts are:
- contact hs & tb coaches to see if they want to be involved.
- Is it more traditional or better at the hs or the tb organization?
- get a banner/flag of the college for the picture..?
- get some t-shirts of teh college for DW & I...?
- etc????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The ones around here are held at the HS. You invite whomever you want to. I wouldn't wear the university's t shirts. Yes, DD should wear a shirt or visor. I think the girls want to act more non chalant. They want to act like it isn't a big deal.

RB - Congrats to your DD! I suggest you invite all the DFP members, hire a caterer, and ask PC to photo-memorialize the event. Any food would be fine with me, but better order extra if GoingDeep is going to attend.

Looks like I'm going to need to check the site more often and watch my catcher friend. :)

We did a cake ( cookie cake by DD's request ) with the college colors and logo. Chips and dips, drinks.

All our sports signings are at the HS. ( teenagers love any excuse to ditch class ) I did invite a couple of TB coaches to attend.

Ask the college to bring the college banner sheet for the signing table. Ask them to bring a jersey too for pictures. Most will but be sure and make the request.

Be sure and invite family. Aunts-uncles-grandparents...........anyone who would enjoy being there.

Have someone as designated photographer. You'll be busy shooting the bull and rubbing shoulders during the event.

Most important is call ahead of time to the local newspaper(s). The papers are usually very glad to see a young person signing for college. I called 3 papers just to make sure one would show, they all 3 sent a reporter haha. So we got 3 very nice articles.

The "event" lasted about an hour. The actual signing last about 10 seconds. Good times :)

Sorry RB, since GD wasn't much help, and considering it is WI and winter, I suggest a menu of assorted cheeses and crackers, a fondue table, and, for dessert, a cheese cake - in the shape of the school mascot or logo.
