The difference based on your words is that SnF is about learning how to create a spring using the rear leg and back muscles...there is no emphasis on the "Hips" in the SnF. The swing gets launched with a very tight barrel turn rearward (away from the opposite middle infielder) using the wrists and forearms and NOT the shoulders thereby using the rear leg as the axis for the swing. This will (or should) release the spring.

The check swing drill (based on picture #3 you referenced) uses center of the pelvis as the axis of rotation which is longer and slower and certainly too circular in swing direction

This SnF drill also provides the swing direction. If done correctly the barrel path will be in the hitting zone quickly and stay there a long time so you hit behind and through the ball rather than around the ball....

I will use this drill in conjunction with rear leg swing and deep tee (around the rear hip socket) to further promote the idea of a deeply launched swing that stays on course a long time.

Good description.

Me personally ... I don't speak of the barrel being in the zone a long time, as kids tend to do multiple negative things when they attempt to accomplish such a goal ... but the "out from", with "direction", gets the job done ... and I find that accomplishes the goal without having to mention keeping the barrel in the zone.

Pay close attention to the left foot and the position of the right foot.
also kind of looks like the same set up on a youtube video I thought I saw.

Compared to these:

The correct positioning of the feet allows for better Stretchhhhhhhh and Fireeeeeeee.
Emphasis isn't on the hips firing look a little lower.

Don't care about the hips firing. It's not about the hips, as you say.

Not what I said. Here is what I said:

That may be why some have a problem with SNF or teaching hitting as a whole it is the attention paid to the little details.
SNF may not be for everyone. I didn't raise the question nor the subject nor this thread.

You keep mentioning "emphasis isn't on the hips". What is "emphasis" on?

You don't need to be defensive, I wasn't attacking. Just trying to learn; like you used to.

My bad. I didn't know you were asking a question. I'm a little 'punch drunk' been taking a beaten on this site and another. Give me a couple of minutes see if I can put together a good reply.
Yes, I am still and always learning.

So you start with your feet offset some and lift stride foot off ground to start.
Will try that next time.

swingbuilder's suggestion to my DD Laura.
If you would have her push externally with the big toe side of her foot when she is ready to swing her rear leg would be so much more explosive. It would bring a huge smile to your face!
I tried to tell her to fire her upper rearleg(IR femur)knee first as she 'turned the barrell'/fired but that didn't seem to click.
Did this drill with this cue from swingbuilderIf you would have her push externally with the big toe side of her foot when she is ready to swing her rear leg would be so much more explosive. It would bring a huge smile to your face!
and it seemed to click. I even demo to show her.
I hope this helps.

So you are fire the foot/big toe first?
Just want to do it right, for what it was designed for
